Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS) in Aphasia

Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

This study will assess the effects of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) on language recovery after stroke as well as healthy language functions.

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:18 Years to 85 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:Yes
Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * 18 years of age or older
  2. * Fluent in English
  3. * No history of neurological or psychiatric disorders
  4. * Diagnosed with post-stroke aphasia by referring physician/neuropsychologist
  5. * Consent date \>=1 months after stroke onset
  6. * Right-handed
  7. * Fluent in English
  8. * 18 years of age or older
  1. * Severe cognitive, auditory or visual impairments that would preclude cognitive and language testing
  2. * Presence of major untreated or unstable psychiatric disease
  3. * A chronic medical condition that is not treated or is unstable
  4. * The presence of cardiac stimulators or pacemakers
  5. * Any metal implants in the skull
  6. * Contraindications to MRI or tACS
  7. * History of seizures
  8. * History of dyslexia or other developmental learning disabilities
