Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

The purpose of the study is to evaluate a tele-resistance training exercise program for individuals undergoing chemotherapy for advanced upper gastrointestinal cancer.

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:18 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:No
Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * Age ≥ 18 years
  2. * Biopsy-proven upper GI cancer, stage III-IV
  3. * ECOG performance status 0-1
  4. * Treatment plan of chemotherapy with planned return to Moffitt Cancer Center for restaging
  5. * Able to read and speak English fluently
  6. * Capable of providing informed consent
  1. * Regular engagement in RT (2x/week targeting all major muscle groups)
  2. * Screen failure for exercise safety based on Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) and Patient-Reported Measurement Information System (PROMIS) screening questions
  3. * Underlying unstable cardiac or pulmonary disease or symptomatic cardiac disease (New York Heart Association functional class III or IV).
  4. * Recent fracture or acute musculoskeletal injury that precludes ability to participate in RT
  5. * Numeric pain rating scale of ≥ 7 out of 10
  6. * Myopathic or rheumatologic disease that impacts physical function
