Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

The objective of this research is to experimentally delineate the direct effect of speech entrainment practice on independent speech production and identify practice conditions that enhance treatment benefits. The primary outcome measure (Correct Information Units per minute) tallies informativeness and efficiency of independent speech in treated stories.

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:18 Years to 80 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:No
Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * Between 18-80 years at the time of enrollment
  2. * English as native language
  3. * greater than six months post onset
  4. * Diagnosis of aphasia based on Western Aphasia Battery - Revised (WAB-R)
  5. * Score of 7 or less on the Fluency subsection of the WAB-R
  6. * Demonstrate having the willingness and stamina to participate in the multiple-session protocol, either by traveling to the MRRI testing site or being tested at home
  1. * History of learning disabilities
  2. * History of other comorbid neurological impairments
