Weight Management Intervention in College: A Pilot RCT

Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

This pilot randomized controlled trial will examine a behavioral weight loss intervention that uses a "small change" approach fro emerging adult college students with overweight/obesity. The primary aim is to assess student acceptability and clinically-meaningful weight changes.

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:18 Years to 29 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:No
Standard Ages:ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * BMI of 25 or greater
  2. * Enrolled at college/university where study will take place
  3. * English-speaking
  1. * History or current diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or alcohol use disorder (current symptoms also assessed at screening using validated screening questionnaires)
  2. * Participation in another formal weight loss program or current utilization of obesity medications
  3. * Current or recent pregnancy
  4. * Psychiatric hospitalization in the past 12 months
  5. * Recent weight loss of 5% body weight or more
  6. * History of bariatric surgery
  7. * Severe food or physical activity restrictions that would interfere with treatment recommendations
