The investigators will be randomizing 300 college student participants with high levels of social media use into either a 1) control condition (no intervention), a 2) mindfulness meditation cognitive intervention, or 3) a social media reduction + exercise replacement intervention. Participants complete intervention activities daily for two weeks. The investigators will collect self-report and behavioral measures of social media use and related psychological constructs at three time points: baseline, immediately after the intervention period, and one-week after the intervention period (three weeks from baseline).
Alcohol use is prevalent in U.S. adolescents and contributes to adverse health outcomes in this population. Care for adolescent alcohol use is lacking in most pediatric primary care settings (PPC). This project is a pragmatic comparative effectiveness and implementation study that employs a superiority, two-arm, randomized, prospective, observer-blinded, controlled trial design to compare the effectiveness of a patient-centered brief motivational interviewing-based alcohol intervention (BMAI) alone to the same BMAI augmented with adjunctive smartphone app-delivered mindfulness training (MT) for alcohol use in adolescents receiving primary care in PPC clinics across a regional health network. Main effectiveness outcomes will be alcohol use and alcohol related problems assessed over a one-year follow-up period. Implementation outcomes and mediators and moderators of intervention response will also be examined as part of the study.
The primary objective of the proposed research is to investigate the promise and underlying mechanisms of mindfulness training as a preventative lifestyle intervention to enhance cognitive health in Latinx older adults, thereby mitigating risk of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) in a population that may be particularly vulnerable.
The purpose of this pilot feasibility study is to evaluate the effects of a smartphone-based mindfulness intervention (MBI) on pain-related outcomes in individuals with fibromyalgia. This 8-week randomized controlled trial will compare an MBI app group to a control group who completes assessments only through the app. The MBI intervention includes weekly video content focused on mindfulness practice and psychoeducation, combined with daily symptom tracking through the app. Participants in both groups will complete self-report measures at baseline, post-intervention, and follow-ups at 3 and 6 months. The study will enroll up to 100 participants from Brigham and Women's Hospital and the greater Boston area. This pilot study is designed to assess feasibility and explore preliminary effects on outcomes such as pain interference, fibromyalgia symptoms, pain catastrophizing, sleep disturbance, emotional distress, mindfulness, and pain acceptance. Results will be used to inform the design of a future fully powered randomized trial.
The long-term goal of this study is to develop a mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) program to reduce stress and burnout while increasing belongingness and connectedness among faculty and staff at the University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Nursing (CON). The central hypothesis is that the MBI intervention will improve psychosocial outcomes (sense of belonging) and physiological outcomes (heart rate variability, HRV) among CON faculty and staff. The specific aims are to: Aim 1: Evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of MBIs (meditation or yoga) through participant interviews, recruitment, retention, and adherence rates. Aim 2: Assess the preliminary effects of MBIs on psychosocial (burnout, stress, anxiety, sense of belonging) and physiological (HRV) outcomes. The hypothesis predicts improvements in both psychosocial and physiological measures post-intervention. Researchers will compare meditation to yoga to see if one improves psychosocial and physiological outcomes better that the other. Participants will be asked to: * participate in meditation or yoga two times per week * complete surveys * use an app on their phone to answer short surveys * wear a smart device
In this study, the investigators are exploring how a mindfulness-based physical activity program can help improve exercise habits and overall health among 258 inactive Latina women aged 18 to 65. The study will be conducted entirely remotely over and 18 month period. During the first 6 months, all participants will receive an exercise program that has previously been tested by our research team. After 6 months, the investigators will check if participants are meeting the recommended exercise guidelines of at least 150 minutes/week of at least moderate intensity activity. Participants who meet the guidelines will continue with the successful exercise program for another 6 months. For participants who do not meet the guidelines (are exercising less than 150 minutes/week), they will receive one of two enhanced programs, which will be randomly assigned. One program offers additional physical activity support, and the other incorporates stress management through mindfulness techniques. For all participants, over 18 months, the investigators will track physical activity levels, stress, and heart health indicators.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if mindfulness meditation can improve outcomes in older adults with and without cognitive impairment. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. How does mindfulness impact thinking and memory? 2. How does mindfulness influence brain function and structure? 3. How does mindfulness affect daily function and quality of life? Researchers will compare all outcomes to one other groups. In one group, individuals will participate in a mindfulness class intervention; in the other group, individuals will not engage in any active interventions immediately, but will be placed on a waitlist for the mindfulness intervention. Researchers will compare all outcomes between the groups groups to determine whether the mindfulness interventions leads to greater improvement compared to no intervention (waitlist group). Participants will: * Be randomly assigned to participate in the mindfulness intervention, or no immediate intervention (waitlist) * Complete paper-and-pencil cognitive testing, surveys, computerized tasks, and neuroimaging measures (EEG and MRI) before and after the intervention Outcomes will be assess at baseline, 2 months, 4 months and 6 months.
This pilot randomized controlled trial will compare a novel mindfulness training to interoceptive exposure to establish feasibility and acceptability as an intervention for anxiety sensitivity.
NRG-CC015 is a prospective, randomized phase III clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of two distinct digital approaches for delivering a mindfulness-based intervention: a live, instructor-led version delivered over Zoom (MAPs LO), and an app-based, self-paced version (MAPs App). Participants will include younger breast cancer survivors (BCS) who were diagnosed with breast cancer at or before age 50 years, have completed their primary cancer treatment (i.e., surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy) at least 6 months earlier, and report elevated depressive symptoms.
The current study tests the feasibility and effectiveness of a youth intervention designed to provide meaningful leadership opportunities through the acquisition of leadership skills as well as mindfulness practice, LEAP: Leadership, Engagement, and youth Action Program with Mindfulness. The goal of this project is to determine whether the Leadership, Engagement, and youth Action Program with Mindfulness (LEAP) curriculum, which was developed with youth, is a feasible and effective intervention for fostering leadership and well-being. The investigators seek to understand whether LEAP can support wellbeing for youth as a strategy to increase youth mental, emotional, and behavioral (MEB) health.
