This study evaluates the impact of calaspargase pegol (Cal-PEG) on the coagulation system in pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (ALL).
The overall aim of this multicenter RCT is to determine whether concomitant ALL reconstruction in children undergoing and ACL reconstruction will longitudinally result in a lower rate of graft failure than ACL reconstruction alone.
This multisite study seeks to understand whether and how pulse oximeter accuracy varies across children with different skin colors in real world clinical settings. Many factors can affect how well pulse oximeters work; for example, movement and even fingernail polish. Some studies in adults show that skin color may also affect the pulse oximeter reading. In this study, we will explore pulse oximeter accuracy in children of all skin colors who are undergoing cardiac catheterizations. The study will address limitations of prior work by objectively measuring skin color across multiple dimensions of color and comparing the the pulse oximeter reading to the "gold standard" blood sample measurement.
The objective of this project is to collect baseline data from a normative population of children that gender and age matches the population of patients expected to be treated by Mary Bridge Children's Research \& Movement Lab. This project seeks to recruit 20 male and 20 female typically developing individuals, between the ages of 3 and 25 years of age. Non-invasive measurements of movement patterns (motion analysis and force plate data) will be collected during bipedal gait.
This is a multicenter study to test a decision-making support process for families and clinicians facing decisions about chronic home ventilation for a child. The investigators hypothesize that the intervention will increase family preparedness for decision-making and will improve clinician-family shared-decision making. Half of families will be assigned to "usual care" arm and half to the "intervention" arm. Intervention families will view the study website with study staff and will answer questions related to website content. All families will be interviewed and surveyed at 1, 6 and 12 months after enrollment. Each family will designate 1-2 physician involved in the decision about home ventilation; each physician will be interviewed and surveyed at 1 month.
Early childhood detection of motor delays or impairments provides the opportunity for early treatment which improves health outcomes. This study will use state of the art sensors combined with machine learning algorithms to develop objective, accurate, easy-to-use tools for the early scoring of deficits and lays the foundation for the early prediction of physical disability.
INTRODUCTION: Due to the low incidence of pediatric spinal cord injury (SCI) and the high demand for knowledge and research, international cooperation is needed to build a solid and shared understanding of the extent of the problem, and also uniformity in treatment and measurement methods. The aim of the study is to map organization of care and rehabilitation of children and adolescents \< 18 years of age with SCI, to explore qualitatively psychosocial aspects of individuals and to establish use of common outcome measures in 10 rehabilitation units from seven countries, cooperating within the Sunnaas International Network in Rehabilitation (SIN); China, USA, Russia, Israel, Palestine, Norway and Sweden. METHOD: In Phase I two cross-sectional studies will be conducted to set the scene for the outcome studies following in Phase II (2020-2022). Phase I consists of a quantitative descriptive study using a websurvey to describe and compare the systems of care and delivery of inpatient rehabilitation services for pediatric SCI patients. In addition, a qualitative study will explore the psychosocial aspects of living with a childhood acquired SCI. Two adolescents, aged 13-17 years and at least 6 months post-acute treatment, from each unit will interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. Ethical approval has been applied for in each unit, and the study is registered at ClinicalTrial-gov. A workshop for the 24 study team members, where the main focus was to ensure that data collection is conducted in a good manner, was held in May 2018, and data collection is expected finalized by 2020. Phase II (planning stage) will consist of methodological outcome studies. DISCUSSION: Phase I of the study will broaden the body of knowledge on pediatric SCI internationally, thus enabling comparison, discussion and development of organizational models and quality of care and rehabilitation for young persons with SCI. Phase II will contribute to the use of common and reliable outcome measures for these patients.
Umbilical venous catheters (UVC) are typically places with poor guidance and some radiological confirmation. Misplacement of the catheter could lead to its placement in other unintended anatomical areas such as the liver or the spleen, which could be detrimental in critically-ill infants. Our study aims at using a more non-invasive means of placing and continuously monitoring catheter placement using superficial electrocardiogram (ECG) tracings.
Phase 1 study, a single dose of ZTI-01 given to pediatric subjects (under 12 years of age) who require antibiotic therapy to see what the body does to the drug (pharmacokinetics) and to compare if these effects are similar to those observed in adults at a 6g ZTI-01 dose. Study will help establish pediatric dosing in younger children by age cohort. This is a multiple-center, open-label, PK study of ZTI-01 (fosfomycin for injection) single dose scaled by allometric weight-modeling from an adult ZTI-01 dose of 6 grams. Eligible subjects must be receiving standard of care antibiotics for proven or suspected bacterial infection or for peri-operative prophylaxis surgery (in or out of hospital).
This is a prospective study of children \<21 years of age with the goal of characterizing the PK of drugs administered per standard of care as prescribed by the treating caregiver.
