The goal of this study is to determine whether a data coaching process called Out of School Time Coach (OST-Coach) can increase child physical activity (PA) behavior, perceived motor competence, and staff PA-promoting practices. Aim 1: Determine the impact that the OST-Coach intervention has on child PA behavior and perceived motor competence. The investigators hypothesize that integrating a targeted data coaching system will increase the amount of PA children engage in during the OST program and enhance their perceived motor competence compared to sites receiving standard practice. Aim 2: Assess the impact of the OST-Coach intervention on staff PA-promoting practices. The investigators will measure the effectiveness of the OST-Coach intervention by observing staff behavior and assessing their willingness to integrate evidence-based practices during OST programming. It is hypothesized that OST leaders at intervention sites will implement more PA-promoting practices. Child physical activity will be measured via systematic observation and a survey assessing perceived motor competence. Staff PA-promoting behaviors will be observed via systematic observation and evaluated through a survey to understand the impact of the data coaching process. The intervention is delivered at the staff level, with feedback provided four times throughout the academic year.
To understand the changes in health-related quality of life of patients and caregivers after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation.
The present study will assess the effects of a four-week digitally delivered intervention on physical activity and depressive symptoms among adults experiencing at least moderate depressive symptoms. The main questions this research aims to answer are: * Does a digitally-delivered intervention increase physical activity levels? * Does a digitally-delivered intervention reduce symptoms of depression? Researchers will compare an intervention promoting physical activity to a passive control (does not receive the intervention) group to see if the intervention reduces depressive symptoms and increases physical activity levels. Participants will: * Visit the laboratory at two separate time points before group assignment, separated by one week of physical activity monitoring * Be randomly assigned to complete four weeks of a digital intervention prompting engagement in physical activity or have their mental health symptoms monitored over four weeks (i.e., passive control group) * Visit the laboratory at two separate time points after the intervention, separated by one week of physical activity monitoring
Over 60% of women aged 65 and older suffer from pain, yet this group is underrepresented in research. Physical activity and percussive massage therapy may help manage pain, but both require consistent engagement, making long-term participation challenging for most people. Self-monitoring could improve adherence to these pain management efforts, but the optimal strategies for self-monitoring remain unknown. This is a a 2x2 factorial randomized controlled trial in older women (N = 108) to determine which behavior(s) should be self-monitored to (1) promote engagement in physical activity and percussive massage therapy and (2) reduce pain. This study design will allow examination on effects of self-monitoring across different behaviors to identify the most effective strategies for improving pain management adherence and reducing pain.
This early-phase trial will test intervention strategies to influence implicit attitudes towards physical activity and determine whether changes in those mechanisms result in change in physical activity behavior among inactive adults who are overweight or obese.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if an Internet-based behavioral intervention can increase physical activity and improve diet quality among Latina adults. The main question aims to answer is whether participants in the Internet-based behavioral intervention group increase their physical activity levels, increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables, and decrease their consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages over 12 weeks. Researchers will compare the Internet-based physical activity and healthy eating intervention to a wait-list control group (participants who do not receive any intervention until after completing the study) to see if the Internet-based behavioral intervention works to improve physical activity and diet quality. Participants who receive the Internet-based behavioral intervention receive access to the online intervention for 12 weeks, and complete assessments at baseline and week-12. Participants in the wait-list control complete the same assessments at baseline and week 12, then receive access to the online intervention for 12 weeks.
The Hawks in Motion (HIM) High Intensity Exercise program is designed to implement the American Physical Therapy Clinical Practice Guidelines and American College of Sports Medicine recommendations for exercise for people with neurologic disability. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students administer the HIM High Intensity Exercise Program. A prior study evaluated the feasibility, safety, and efficacy of the HIM High Intensity Exercise Program and found it feasible, safe, and effective for 30 people with neurologic disabilities between the ages of 8-99 years. The investigators would like to evaluate whether participation in the HIM High Intensity Exercise Program affects mobility in everyday life. Physical activity will be measured one week before program implementation and one week after to assess if the participants' mobility in everyday improved.
The purpose of this randomized controlled trial is to assess the efficacy of Actívatexto (Aim 1) and the mediators of the presumed treatment effect (Aim 2) among Latino adults who smoke. Actívatexto is a mobile intervention that integrates four components: 1) a text messaging program that promotes both smoking cessation and physical activity, 2) wearable devices to monitor physical activity, 3) smoking cessation pharmacotherapy \[i.e., nicotine replacement therapies (NRT)\], and 4) an online dashboard where the research team manages participants' incoming and outgoing data from both the text messaging program and wearable devices.
The goal of this 15-month cluster clinical trial is to compare a resilience and stress management program to a physical activity program for early childhood education (ECE) staff on change in well-being. It will also look to see if changes in well-being continue over time. The study sample will include 80 child care centers. Including 80 ECE center directors and approximately 560 ECE center staff. Some ECE centers will receive only the remotely delivered Resilience program. This program works with ECE staff and helps them recognize and strengthen their resilience assets and resources. Other ECE centers will receive only the remotely delivered Physical Activity program that will focus on staff physical activity habits and strength training. There will be 3 months of active program participation and 12 months of a maintenance period where participants will only have access to program materials.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn the effects of technology enhancements when combined with basic education, goal-setting, and self-monitoring to increase physical activity among older adults living alone, experiencing subjective cognitive decline, and currently engaging minimal physical activity (60 minutes or less of moderate to vigorous physical activity). Further, we will examine key psychosocial mechanisms believed to contribute to successful promotion of physical activity, which include social support and stress resilience. The primary questions are to determine whether * the tech-enhanced condition lead to greater physical activity over time? * the tech-enhanced condition lead to social support and stress resilience over time? * social support and stress resilience mediate the relationship between the study condition and physical activity? All participants will engage in self-monitoring of physical activity, will receive weekly text reminders of their physical activity goals for the week, and will receive basic education about the importance of physical activity, social support, and stress resilience for cognitive, physical, and psychological health. Participants in the tech-enhanced condition will also receive access to a study-specific website and virtual coaching to reinforce the information presented. Researchers will then compare the tech-enhanced condition to the basic education condition to determine the benefits of technology to deliver the intervention materials in order to increase physical activity, social support, and stress resilience. Participants will: * Use a Garmin wearable device to monitor their physical activity * Be randomly assigned to a basic education condition or tech-enhanced condition * Set achievable goals for weekly physical activity, with incremental increases to achieve 150 minutes per week by the end of the study * Respond to surveys to monitor their social support, stress resilience, quality of life, and depression. The sample has several risk factors for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias: low physical activity, social isolation risk via living alone, and subjective cognitive impairment. Therefore, a long-term goal includes the determination of the intervention's effectiveness at increasing physical activity, social support, and stress resilience to reduce risk for developing dementia.
