To understand the changes in health-related quality of life of patients and caregivers after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation.
The goal of this randomized intervention trial is to determine the effect of bright light therapy on sleep disturbance, as well as to investigate the impacts of bright light therapy on biological age measured by clinical biomarkers. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does bright light therapy improve sleep patterns (i.e., sleep onset latency, sleep disturbance, and sleep efficiency) in lung cancer patients? * Can bright light therapy slow the rate of aging measured by biological age in lung cancer patients? Researchers will compare bright light therapy group to control group to see if bright light works to reduce sleep disturbance and decelerate biological aging. Participants will: * Receive bright light exposure or usual light exposure every day for 4 weeks * Get blood draw at the baseline and at 4 weeks for clinical biomarkers tests * Complete self-reported sleep, fatigue and stress surveys at the baseline and at 4 weeks * Keep a daily sleep log
A growing body of evidence suggests that sleep facilitates and is beneficial to perceptual learning. However, the underlying mechanism of this facilitatory action is largely unknown. One must know what type of processing occurs during sleep to clarify the mechanism of sleep facilitating perceptual learning. For this purpose, investigators will obtain highly localized spatio-temporal information about brain activation during sleep using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and polysomnography (PSG) measurement.
The aim of this study is to design a sleep and mindfulness intervention to improve sleep, quality of life, and cognitive function among older adults.
The goal of this clinical trial is to adapt a sleep intervention for individuals representative of all demographic groups, including those who are at the highest risk for suicidal behavior. Sleep difficulties are a promising target for youth with suicidal thoughts and behavior to focus on as a prevention measure. We aim to increase intervention acceptability and impact by adapting it for the adolescent populations at highest risk for suicidal thoughts and behavior. The research project will compare Transdiagnostic Sleep and Circadian Intervention (TranS-C), an evidence based, modularized intervention that targets a range of sleep difficulties to a treatment as usual or control condition including providing weekly sleep feedback reports from data entered into a daily sleep diary and from wearing a sleep sensing, actigraphy watch. Participants in both conditions (TranS-C vs. Sleep Feedback) will wear an actigraphy sleep watch that monitors sleep, and complete daily sleep diaries via smartphone or email. Participants in the TranS-C condition will also wear bright light (BL) and blue blocking glasses each day as well as attend weekly or biweekly sessions with a Sleep Therapist. The sleep therapist will review sleep feedback during sessions.
The goal of this interventional study is to differentiate the effects of an acute partial sleep deprivation intervention on markers of cardiovascular health, cardio-autonomic function, physical and cognitive performance, as well as overall wellbeing in active vs sedentary individuals. The main aims of the project are: * To differentiate the effects of partial sleep deprivation on central hemodynamics (i.e., central blood pressure and arterial stiffness) in active vs sedentary individuals. * To differentiate the effects of partial sleep deprivation on physical (i.e., handgrip strength and reactive strength index) and cognitive performance (i.e., reaction time and impulse control) in active vs sedentary individuals. * To differentiate the effects of partial sleep deprivation on overall wellbeing (i.e., cardio-autonomic function, inflammation levels, and psychological mood states) in active vs sedentary individuals. Participants will be divided into two groups based on aerobic activity level - active or sedentary - and assessed for markers of cardiovascular health, cardio-autonomic function, physical and cognitive performance, as well as overall wellbeing before and after three days of normal sleep and three days of partially deprived sleep (i.e., 30% reduction in total time in bed).
The main goal of this study is to evaluate the "SIESTA" intervention, a culturally and contextually tailored sleep hygiene intervention that has the potential to exert greater improvements in sleep hygiene and sleep outcomes for group that may be more vulnerable to poor sleep health. The main question is: do SIESTA participants have improved sleep outcomes, sleep hygiene behaviors and less sleep-related impairment compared to Control Group participants? Participants randomized to the SIESTA intervention will: 1. Attend 4 remotely administered group sleep hygiene education sessions 2. Complete along with a parent/guardian, two individualized sessions administered by a SIESTA intervention facilitator 3. Complete study survey at baseline, end of treatment, and at 4, 8 and 12 months post-intervention. 4. Wear electronic sleep watches (actigraphy) throughout the protocol to objectively measure sleep duration and quality. Participants randomized to the Child Health Control condition will: 1. Attend 4 remotely administered group sessions covering general health topics 2. Complete along with a parent/guardian, two individualized sessions administered by a SIESTA intervention facilitator 3. Complete study survey at baseline, end of treatment, and at 4, 8 and 12 months post-intervention. 4. Wear electronic sleep watches (actigraphy) throughout the protocol to objectively measure sleep duration and quality. A secondary goal of the study is to conduct a process evaluation to prepare for future larger scale use of the intervention in other urban school settings. This will entail assessing Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance (RE-AIM) of the program through several methods, such as by conducting in-depth interviews with research participants and their parents/guardians, as well as school staff and by looking at rates of participation in the program.
The investigators are interested in finding out how Prolonged Nightly Fasting (PNF) and/or health education may impact health and cancer recovery for breast cancer patients and survivors.
This study will examine whether a combination of breathing training during wake and targeted reactivation of the training during sleep can induce breathing changes during sleep and subsequent cognitive benefits during wake. Participants with obstructive sleep apnea (who have not yet been treated for sleep apnea) will be recruited. Participants will engage in breath training for one week in their own homes and to record their sleep at home using commercially available mobile devices and subsequently have their sleep monitored for one night of polysomnography recordings plus targeted reactivation in a laboratory setting.
