Long Term Impact of Time-Restricted Eating on Parameters of Cardiometabolic Health

In a randomized controlled trial, the investigators intend to measure the health impact of time restricted eating (TRE) in patients with metabolic syndrome (with elevated blood pressure and at least 2 of the following: increased waist circumference, abnormal cholesterol levels, elevated triglycerides, and elevated fasting glucose levels), who habitually eat more than 12 hours every day. Patients will be randomly assigned to a control group (standard of care) or intervention group (TRE).

A Study of Time-Restricted Eating in Childhood Cancer Survivors

This study will look at whether motivational sessions (including regular calls with a trained health coach) in combination with time-restricted eating (TRE) is an effective way to achieve weight loss and lower cardiometabolic risk in adult survivors of childhood cancer. The researchers will look at how effective this intervention is compared to the usual approach, which is to review educational materials and measure weight once a month. This study will not provide treatment for any disease or cancer.

To Test Whether Time-restricted Eating Coupled With a Healthy Diet is Beneficial in Liver Cancer Patients

This is a feasibility study that will collect data to assess the potential effect of a nutritional intervention designed to improve liver metabolism. This prospective single-site trial will enroll adult patients undergoing liver-directed therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma. Eligible individuals who are randomized to the intervention group will be enrolled in a six-month nutritional change program consisting of time-restricted eating in which calorie consumption is limited to 8-10 hours during the day, plus targeted healthy changes in what they eat. The intervention includes dietary counseling visits with a study registered dietitian and motivational phone calls with a study Certified Health and Wellness Coach to help subjects adhere to the intervention. Individuals in the control group will be enrolled in a six-month period of observation only. The main questions it aims to answer are: Is a prolonged nightly fast coupled with a healthy diet safe and feasible for patients with liver cancer? Does the intervention improve liver metabolism?

Time-restricted Eating Acceptability, Efficacy and Safety in Obesity

A randomized controlled trial to determine adherence, acceptability and safety of time restricted eating (TRE) in healthy, sedentary, free-living adults with obesity between the ages of 19-65 years when following 16:8 TRE for 8 weeks. This 9-week study includes a baseline week and 8 weeks of the intervention period. Participants are randomly assigned to the TRE or the non-fasting control group. The TRE group will consume calorie containing food and drink only over an 8 hour period and rest of the 16 hour would be fasting. Adherence to TRE and calorie intake are the primary outcomes. Motivators, facilitators and barriers to TRE, hunger and cravings levels, weight bias internalization, body composition (weight, body fat%, fat mass and muscle mass) , Healthy Eating Index (HEI) to assess diet quality, skin carotenoid levels, disordered eating risk, sleep quality, and perceptions of health and well-being are secondary outcomes.

Time Restricted Eating (TRE) in Metastatic Head and Neck Squamous Cell Cancer (mHNSCC)

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether Time Restricted Eating (TRE) can improve responses in participants with metastatic head and neck squamous cell cancer (mHNSCC) or unresectable/metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) receiving Immune Checkpoint Blockers (ICB) by changing the gut microbiome (the bacteria and other microorganisms living in individual's bodies). A particular focus of this study is to compare the outcomes of African American participants when compared to the rest of the participant population. TRE is a form of intermittent fasting where food and drink intake is limited to a specific time window during the day. The information learned from this study may help researchers develop new strategies to improve outcomes in patients with mHNSCC and RCC in the future. Participants will be asked to complete a dietary survey at baseline and week 9 and provide a baseline stool and blood sample. Two weeks before beginning ICB and after participants completed the baseline assessments, they will begin TRE. TRE will be defined as limiting food and drink intake to a 10 hour window during each day and fasting for 14 hours at night. Participants will be asked to complete a daily food log to document the times they eat and drink. On day 1 of ICB and weeks 3, 6, 9, 26, and 52 after ICB, participants will be asked to collect a blood sample and a toxicity assessment will be performed. On day 1 of ICB and weeks 9, 26, and 52 of ICB, participants will be asked to provide a stool sample. Participants will also undergo tumor imaging throughout the study as part of their standard of care assessments. If a participant's disease progresses after ICB, they will repeat all study assessments and be withdrawn from the study.

TREAD: Time Restricted Eating Intervention for Alzheimer's Disease

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if restricting the time of eating to allow for prolonged fasting at night may reduce sleep disturbances, cognitive decay, and pathology in patients diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or early to moderate Alzheimer's disease (AD). It will also learn about the feasibility of practicing 14 h of nightly fasting in this group of older adults. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does prolonged nightly fasting of 14 h can reduce markers of AD pathology and aging and reduce cognitive and sleep alterations in MCI and AD patients? * Can patients with MCI and early /moderate AD sustain time-restricted eating for 3 to 6 months? Researchers will compare participants who fast for 14 h per night during 3 months to those who fast for less than 12 h/night. Researchers will also compare participants that fast for 3 months to those who fast during 6 months, to determine the effective duration of the intervention. Finally, researchers will evaluate whether following the time-restricted eating diet alongside a partner actively following the same diet, will increase adherence to the protocol compared to subjects that fast alone. Participants will: * Fast for 14 h a night (stop eating at 8 pm and start eating the following morning at 10 am) for 3 or 6 months * Visit the clinic three times (at the beginning of the study, 6 and 12 months later) * Provide blood samples and take a cognitive test during clinic visits * Keep a diary (or use an app on a smart phone) to record time of eating * Wear an activity tracker watch

Time-restricted Eating Among Pregnant Females With Severe Obesity

In the United States, severe obesity (body mass index (BMI) ≥ 40.0 kg/m2) affects approximately 10% of females of reproductive age with Black females disproportionately burdened (16%). Severe obesity is a significant predictor of adverse perinatal outcomes including gestational diabetes mellitus, pre-eclampsia, premature birth, and at its most severe, fetal death, birth defects and a three-fold greater risk of maternal mortality - outcomes that also disproportionately affect Black females. Observational studies suggest weight maintenance and even modest body fat loss and altering the maternal metabolic milieu (availability of glucose and lipids) in the gestational period may be important to reducing perinatal health risks among pregnant females with severe obesity. The proposed research aims to assess time-restricted eating in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy to explore the effects on maternal weight, and perinatal health outcomes compared to standard clinical care.

Time Restricted Eating in Alzheimer's Disease

This pilot and feasibility study will enable the research team to determine the feasibility of implementing a time-restricted eating regimen among adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and the impact of time-restricted eating on cognitive performance and biomarkers of metabolic health in this population. Study staff will execute the specific aims using a pre-post, non-randomized study design in which all participants receive the intervention. The intervention is a 16/8 time-restricted eating regimen characterized by fasting for 16 hours and eating within an 8-hour window on 5 days per week for 3 months. Assessments will be performed at baseline and after the 3-month time-restricted eating intervention with the following outcome measures. Outcome measures for feasibility include participant recruitment, retention and metrics of acceptability, safety, and adherence to the intervention. Outcome measures for cognitive performance and metabolic health include neuropsychological tests, blood biomarkers, and surveys of psychological well-being.

Modulating Energy Density in Time-Restricted Eating

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to test the effect of time-restricted eating (14-hour fast, 10-hour eating window) of a low-energy dense diet (reduced calories per gram of food) in older adults with obesity and insulin resistance. The study aims to determine if modulating the energy density of the diet reduces: 1. Insulin resistance and 2. Body weight. Researchers will compare the groups: 1. Following time-restricted eating and given a diet reduced in energy density or 2. Following time-restricted eating and given a diet typically consumed in this population
