The goal of this clinical trial is to study the effects of dronabinol in US Veterans with agitation related to moderate to severe dementia. The main goals of the study are: * To evaluate the efficacy of dronabinol for the treatment of agitation in moderate to severe dementia compared to placebo * To evaluate the safety of dronabinol in the treatment of agitation in moderate to severe dementia compared to placebo Fifty (50) subjects will be given either dronabinol or placebo for 8 weeks. All subjects will then undergo a "washout" phase for 3 weeks, followed by the crossover intervention (i.e. subjects who received placebo during the first phase will receive dronabinol during the second phase, and vice versa). Thus, all participants will be taking dronabinol at some point during the study. During the study, subjects will undergo evaluations for: * Agitation * Cognitive changes * Physical changes (i.e. labs, ekg, physical exam)
This study will be conducted to evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of masupirdine compared to placebo for the treatment of agitation in participants with dementia of the Alzheimer's type.
This study will explore the effect of ECT treatments plus usual care (ECT+UC) in reducing severe agitation in patients with moderate to severe dementia including Alzheimer's Disease, Vascular dementia, Frontotemporal dementia, and Dementia with Lewy Bodies. The study will also determine the tolerability/safety outcomes of ECT+UC.
This study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, fixed dose study currently being conducted on two geropsychiatric units at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. It seeks to evaluate the short-term safety and efficacy of citalopram and perphenazine in the treatment of 112 patients suffering from behavioral disturbances associated with dementia. Findings from this research may directly lead to improved acute pharmacotherapy for psychosis and behavioral problems in patients diagnosed with dementia. Improved treatment of behavioral complications with reduced side effects would reduce excess disability in patients diagnosed with dementia, allowing them to be maintained in the community for greater periods of time.
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study comparing the efficacy and safety of ITI-007 versus placebo administered orally once daily in the treatment of agitation in patients with dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.
The purpose of this research study is to test if adding one infusion of mesenchymal stem cells to the current treatment with antipsychotic medication may help control behavioral problems in people with a diagnosis of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This study consists of 2 parts, Part A and Part B. Part A is a single center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled cohort designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics (PK) of NMRA-323511 among healthy elderly. Part B is a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, parallel-group cohort to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of NMRA-323511 among adults with Agitation Associated with Dementia due to Alzheimer's Disease. Part A consists of a Screening Period (up to 28 days), a 10-day Treatment Period, and a 10- day Follow-up clinic visit after last dose of study treatment. Part B consists of a Screening Period (up to 28 days), an 8-week Treatment Period, and a 10-day Follow-up clinic visit after last dose of study treatment.
This is a multicenter randomized double-blind placebo-controlled Phase 2 study of an oral combination of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) compared to placebo over 12 weeks. This study is designed to test the hypothesis that treatment with an oral combination of THC/CBD will reduce agitation hospice care-eligible patients with agitation and dementia as measured by the Cohen Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI) when compared to placebo at 2 weeks. This study will enroll approximately 150 participants of any gender at least 40 years of age who are hospice care-eligible with agitation and dementia (HAD). Participants will be randomized (50:50) to either active study drug (T2:C100) or placebo. The double-blind period of this study is 12 weeks. A 12 week optional open-label extension will be offered to participants who complete the double-blind period.
This 3-phase research plan to employ Behavioral and Environmental Sensing and Intervention (BESI) will overcome the fundamental scientific barriers to realizing prediction of agitation episodes and detection early stages of dementia related agitation. The goal of which is empowering caregivers to intervene early and ultimately reduce agitation, thus reducing caregiver burden and extending aging-in-place and improving the associated quality-of-life and cost benefits.
A study to determine the safety and efficacy of BXCL501 dosing for episodes of agitation associated with dementia when they occur (given as needed \[PRN\]), for a maximum of 168 doses within a 12-week treatment period.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether an antipsychotic medication alone or an antipsychotic medication in combination with divalproex is the most effective and safest way to treat agitation in elderly patients with dementia.
The primary aim of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of quetiapine (Seroquel) for the treatment of psychosis and/or agitation in patients with primary dementia complicated by coexistent parkinsonism, or patients with Parkinson's disease with dementia \[PDD\] who have episodes of agitation or psychosis. The secondary aim is to determine the safety and tolerability, particularly the influence on parkinsonism, of quetiapine when used to treat psychosis and/or agitation in patients with dementia complicated by coexistent parkinsonism.

This Clinical trial tests the efficacy of using the PARO robotic seal to decrease agitation in hospitalized older adults with dementia and/or delirium. This clinical trial also tests the efficacy of the cleaning protocol for the robot. This randomized control trial includes a one hour interaction with the PARO robot two days in a row compared to an attention control with the researcher sitting with the participant in their room for one hour two days in a row. The outcomes being evaluated include both qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data from videotaped interactions with the persons interacting with the PARO Robot include episodes of agitation, and emotional responses to the robot via facial expressions. The quantitative outcomes include the Agitation, use of 1:1 sitters, use of psychoactive medications and length of stay.

Participants with agitation secondary to dementia of the Alzheimer's type. The diagnosis of probable Alzheimer's disease (AD) will be based on the "2011 Diagnostic Guidelines for Alzheimer's Disease" issued by the National Institute on Aging (NIA)-Alzheimer's Association (AA) workgroups.
