RECRUITING
Evaluation of Free Gingival Graft Timing
Description

This clinical trial aims to compare and evaluate the clinical outcomes between two distinct treatment sequences: free gingival graft surgery preceding guided bone regeneration and guided bone regeneration followed by free gingival graft.

COMPLETED
To Compare Free Gingival Grafts and Connective Tissue Grafts Around Implants With Lack of Keratinized Mucosa
Description

This study will compare two commonly used soft tissue grafting techniques (free gingival graft, FGG vs. connective tissue graft, CTG) to augment the soft tissue around dental implants with a lack of keratinized mucosa. To investigators knowledge, these 2 types of grafts have not been compared for differences in clinical (amount of KM increase, tissue thickness increase and esthetics) and patient-centered outcomes (pain, swelling, change in daily activities) in a controlled study.

Genetic Mutational Analysis of Saliva or Buccal Mucosa Samples From Patients With Embryonal or Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma
Description

This research trial studies genetic mutations in saliva or buccal mucosa samples from patients with embryonal or alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Identifying gene mutations may help doctors learn about the prognosis of patients with embryonal or alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.

SUSPENDED
Comparing Sentinel Lymph Node (SLN) Biopsy With Standard Neck Dissection for Patients With Early-Stage Oral Cavity Cancer
Description

This phase II/III trial studies how well sentinel lymph node biopsy works and compares sentinel lymph node biopsy surgery to standard neck dissection as part of the treatment for early-stage oral cavity cancer. Sentinel lymph node biopsy surgery is a procedure that removes a smaller number of lymph nodes from your neck because it uses an imaging agent to see which lymph nodes are most likely to have cancer. Standard neck dissection, such as elective neck dissection, removes many of the lymph nodes in your neck. Using sentinel lymph node biopsy surgery may work better in treating patients with early-stage oral cavity cancer compared to standard elective neck dissection.

COMPLETED
Sonographic Imaging of Oral and Dental Anatomical Structures (A Pilot Study)
Description

The overall purpose of this study is to establish an ultrasound technique to aid in oral and dental examination of soft and hard tissues. Ultrasound is currently not used in Dentistry and associated oral examinations and its usefulness for clinical practice will be explored. This study will investigate the use of ultrasonic imaging for planning and placing dental implants, as well as evaluate the use of ultrasonic imaging for monitoring marginal bone loss around dental implants.
