Feasibility of Obtaining Pulse Oximetry Readings from the Oropharynx
Description

This is a prospective study to evaluate the feasibility of obtaining a pulse oximetry ready from the oropharynx with a standard oximeter probe that has been attached to an oral airway or a tongue blade. The study will compare the values from the peripheral pulse oximeter on a finger, toe, foot or hand with the that from the oropharyngeal oximeter. The study will also compare the saturation from an arterial blood gas (ABG) collected as standard of care with that obtained from the oropharyngeal oximeter.

Natural Vascular Scaffold (NVS) Therapy for Treatment of Atherosclerotic Lesions (Activate I)
Description

The NVS Therapy is being studied to evaluate the safety and efficacy to facilitate retention of acute luminal gain, leading to acute hemodynamic improvement in superficial femoral and popliteal arteries with reference vessel diameters between 4.0 and 7.0 mm and lesion lengths less than or equal to 56mm.

Natural Vascular Scaffold (NVS) Therapy
Description

The NVS Therapy is being studied to evaluate the safety and efficacy of retention of acute luminal gain, leading to acute hemodynamic improvement in superficial femoral and popliteal arteries with reference vessel diameters between 3.5 and 7.0 mm and lesion lengths between 36 and 96mm. The system is intended for use in patients with de novo lesions in the superficial femoral and proximal popliteal arteries.

Description

This study is designed to evaluate the routine use of vascular ultrasound as an aid for proper placement of a femoral arterial sheath during cardiac catheterization and peripheral arterial angiography.

Dilution of Verapamil During Intraarterial Administration
Description

This study will be a randomized, single-blind, prospective trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intra-arterial (IA) Verapamil diluted with normal saline compared to undiluted IA Nicardipine during transradial access (TRA) for percutaneous coronary angiography. Patients who are 18 years or older and undergoing non-emergent percutaneous coronary angiography via TRA will be included. Patients who are non-English speaking, pregnant, or intubated will be excluded. Patients will be randomized to one of the two following groups: 1. Group 1 will receive IA Verapamil 5 mg (2mL) diluted with 8 mL of normal saline 2. Group 2 will receive IA Nicardipine 400 mcg (undiluted, 8 mL) The investigators will document the patient's level of discomfort on the Visual Analogue Scale 30 seconds before and after administration of IA Verapamil/Nicardipine. The investigators will also document the presence of radial artery spasms.
