Reader Study to Demonstrate That Use of ClearRead Confirm is Superior to the Use Standard AP/PA X-ray Image
Description

This is a study to determine whether or not a new type of software is, or is not, of benefit. The software, ClearRead Confirm, is designed to enhance the ability of radiologists to detect tubes, lines and wires that may be placed within a patients chest. These types of devices are commonly used for very sick patients in intensive care units and are also used following surgery and in the treatment of cancer. This study will test radiologist's detection of the tips of these devices comparing the results with standard chest radiographs and the the modified chest radiographs. The primary interest is in the time used to interpret the radiograph. We will determine if there is any change in accuracy of detection.

WITHDRAWN
Central Line Placement-EVALUATION OF LINE DEPTH AS A FACTOR IN NEED FOR LINE REPLACEMENT SECONDARY TO MALPOSITION
Description

This is a single center, randomized, controlled trial in which tunneled central line catheters will be placed in two distinct, select positions. The catheter tip position will then be followed up prospectively after placement to determine whether there is any malpositioning of the tip and if one placement is better than the other.

COMPLETED
The Application of Neck Ultrasound in the Assessment of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) Tip Position
Description

Insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) at the bedside may result in tip malposition. This study was designed to evaluate whether the addition of ultrasound (US) inspection of the ipsilateral neck provides immediate recognition of PICCs in aberrant position facilitating catheter reposition prior to completion of the procedure.
