Cystic Fibrosis and Gut Dysmotility: The Effect of Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) on Intestinal Transit
Description

The investigators will recruit 15 patients with cystic fibrosis 18 years of age and older who present with constipation. The investigators will assess baseline motility symptoms with a survey. Patients will then ingest a SmartPill (trademark) to obtain baseline motility within the GI lumen. All patients will undergo intervention with taking polyethylene glycol (PEG) or Miralax (brand name) 17 grams once daily. After two weeks of therapy, the patient will repeat the motility survey and again ingest a smart pill to assess the change in motility symptoms while on therapy.

Phase II Pilot Study to Compare the Bioavailability of Buffered, Enteric-Coated Ursodiol With Unmodified Ursodiol for Chronic Cholestatic Liver Disease and Cystic Fibrosis-Associated Liver Disease
Description

OBJECTIVES: I. Compare the bioavailability of polymer-coated and buffered ursodiol (ursodeoxycholic acid) to unmodified ursodiol in patients with cystic fibrosis-associated liver disease or chronic cholestatic liver disease. II. Compare the differences in pruritus, weight gain, and liver function for both treatments.

Efficacy and Tolerability of NM-BL in Patients With Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency Due to Cystic Fibrosis
Description

The purpose of this Randomized, Double-blind, Multicenter, Two-period Crossover Study is to Assess the Efficacy and Tolerability of Burlulipase (NM-BL) in Patients with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency due to Cystic Fibrosis

Study of Ivacaftor in Cystic Fibrosis Subjects Aged 12 Years and Older Homozygous for the F508del-CFTR Mutation
Description

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ivacaftor in participants with cystic fibrosis (CF) who were aged 12 years or older and were homozygous for the F508del-CF transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) mutation. Ivacaftor is a potent and selective CFTR potentiator of wild-type, G551D, F508del, and R117H forms of human CFTR protein. Potentiators are pharmacological agents that increase the chloride ion transport properties of the channel in the presence of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (AMP)-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) activation.

Study of Ivacaftor in Cystic Fibrosis Subjects Aged 6 to 11 Years With the G551D Mutation
Description

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ivacaftor in subjects with cystic fibrosis aged 6 to 11 years who have the G551D mutation in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene. Ivacaftor is a potent and selective potentiator of wild-type, G551D, F508del, and R117H forms of human CFTR protein. Potentiators are pharmacological agents that increase the chloride ion transport properties of the channel in the presence of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (AMP)-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) activation.

Saline Hypertonic in Preschoolers + CT
Description

The purpose of this study is to assess whether inhalation of 7% hypertonic saline (HS) twice daily for 48 weeks reduces structural lung disease as assessed by computed tomography (CT) in comparison with inhalation of 0.9% isotonic saline (IS) in preschool children (ages 3 to 6) with cystic fibrosis.

Saline Hypertonic in Preschoolers
Description

The purpose of this study is to assess whether inhalation of 7% hypertonic saline (HS) twice daily for 48 weeks improves the lung clearance index by multiple breath nitrogen washout in comparison with inhalation of 0.9% isotonic saline (IS) in preschool children (ages 3 to 5) with cystic fibrosis.
