4-day Plaque Accumulation Model Evaluating Compound Containing Gum
Description

This will be a single-blind, single-center, 3-way crossover, randomized controlled clinical trial with 3 treatment periods utilizing 32 subjects. (Fig 1, in protocol) Each treatment period will be 4 days (96 hours +/-3 hours) in accordance with the plaque accumulation model using one of the following treatment groups: an active compound MIIP-E2 gum (experimental regimen), an inactive compound gum (negative control regimen), and a no-gum (control regimen).

A Clinical Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of a Cetylpyridinium Chloride Mouthwash in Improving Gingival Health and Reducing Plaque Accumulation
Description

The aim of this 12-week clinical study is to evaluate the ability of an experimental mouthwash, containing 0.085 percent (%) Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) as an adjunct to toothbrushing with a regular fluoride toothpaste, to improve gingival health and plaque accumulation compared to a regular fluoride toothpaste alone in participants with plaque-induced mild to moderate gingivitis.

COMPLETED
A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of a Stannous Fluoride Toothpaste With a Cetylpyridinium Chloride Mouthwash in Improving Gingival Health and Reducing Plaque Accumulation
Description

The aim of this study is to assess the ability of a marketed Cetylpyridinium Chloride (CPC) mouthwash alongside a marketed Stannous Fluoride (SnF2) toothpaste in improving gingival health and reducing plaque accumulation, compared to the use of a regular fluoride toothpaste alone in participants with clinically measurable plaque-induced gingivitis.

COMPLETED
Effect of Enzymes on Dental Biofilm Accumulation
Description

Double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over study investigating dental biofilm accumulation after 4-days in 28 subjects randomised to receive: Sequence 1: 5 active enzyme-containing lozenges per day for 4-days followed by a 2-week washout period followed by 5 identical placebo lozenges per day for 4-days or Sequence 2: 5 placebo lozenges per day for 4-days followed by a 2-week washout period followed by 5 identical active enzyme lozenges per day for 4-days

Livionex on Reducing Plaque Accumulation and Improving Oral Health in Children
Description

This is an investigator initiated randomized double-blind pilot study at the UCSF Pediatric Dental Clinics to compare effectiveness of a new toothpaste Livionex Dental Gel with a standard children's toothpaste containing 1500 ppm fluoride in reducing dental plaque and caries in healthy and well children every 3 months for up to 12 months.

COMPLETED
A Comparative Study of Electric Toothbrushes for the Efficacy Plaque Removal and the Effect on Plaque Accumulation and Gingivitis.
Description

It is well accepted that the greatest contributor to the health of the periodontium and dentition is regular and thorough dental plaque removal, typically by means of adequate toothbrushing. Although patients are typically informed about the risks of substandard oral hygiene and the contributing factors in oral/dental disease by dental professionals, research has shown that an undesirably high proportion of adults find thorough toothbrushing with a standard manual toothbrush to achieve a plaque-free state challenging, as evidenced by high worldwide levels of gingivitis and/or periodontitis.

COMPLETED
A Clinical and Imaging Study to Evaluate a Novel Dentifrice
Description

There is a need for toothpastes that more effectively remove oral biofilm, inhibit biofilm re-formation and support periodontal health. This is particularly important for patients with long-term orthodontic fixtures or prosthodontic appliances, and also for debilitated, diabetic and immunocompromised patients. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of toothpastes on plaque presence and removal, gingival and periodontal health, dental hard tissue mineralization, erosion, abrasion, and microstructure as well as dry/sore mouth. In addition to clinical scoring and photographs, tooth and gum sensitivity, saliva volume, pH and buffering and enamel health may be evaluated using tooth samples worn on removable dental retainers. These samples will be examined outside of the mouth using advanced optical techniques such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Fluorescence, various forms of microscopy and spectroscopy.

COMPLETED
ToothWave Calculus Reduction and Accumulation Prevention Study
Description

The objective of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the home-use device ToothWave (Model H7001) for calculus reduction and the prevention of calculus accumulation.
