The goal of this clinical trial is to determine whether outdoor walking in different environments-urban or natural-can reduce depressive symptoms among college students. The study also tests whether providing prompts for active engagement during nature walks enhances the benefits compared to unstructured nature walks. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: (1) urban walk, (2) nature walk, or (3) active nature walk with guided interaction. Each participant will walk for 30 minutes, twice a week, for 3 weeks, complete questionnaires, and participate in interviews. Our primary outcome (PHQ-9) will be used to test the following two primary hypotheses: * Hypothesis 1: Participants in both nature walk conditions (combined) will show greater reductions in depressive symptoms (PHQ-9) than those in the urban walk group. * Hypothesis 2: Participants in the active nature walk will show greater reductions than those in the regular nature walk.
The purpose of this study is to develop and test a new intervention to reduce depressive symptoms in post-treatment cancer participants.
This study is being done to see if the Healthy Minds Program app helps adolescents with elevated depressive symptoms. Up to 200 participants will be on study for 20 weeks.
Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide, affecting roughly 21 million adults. Repetitive Negative Thought (RNT) has been identified as a potential maintaining factor in depression, such that those who exhibit higher degrees of RNT endorse greater symptoms. Research also suggests that the Default Mode Network (DMN), responsible for self-referential processing, plays an important role in depression wherein it has been linked to RNT. In depressed individuals, this network appears to be hyper-connected, or "too connected", within itself which, in turn, is thought to promote RNT. Half of depressed individuals are treatment-resistant, creating a critical need to identify more effective interventions derived from a better mechanistic understanding of the development and maintenance of depression. Non-invasive Transcranial-Focused Ultrasound Stimulation (tFUS) is promising for the treatment of depression. tFUS directs a low-intensity (nonthermal) focused ultrasound beam that passes safely through the skull. Compared to other noninvasive neuromodulation approaches, tFUS can target deeper brain regions with high spatial precision. The present study is an exploratory non-blinded single treatment study to investigate whether tFUS targeting a major hub of the DMN, the anterior-medial prefrontal cortex, can improve depression symptoms and reduce RNT. Twenty depressed individuals with high RNT (75th percentile) will complete up to eleven ultrasound sessions targeting the anterior medial prefrontal cortex, a hub of the brain's default mode network that has been found to be hyper-connected in depression. MRI scans will be obtained before the first and after the last ultrasound sessions. Based on previous literature, it is predicted that depression interview ratings and self-report symptoms will decrease after the intervention, and also that DMN connectivity will decrease following intervention.
The goal of this clinical trial is to explore the efficacy of a reflective journaling intervention-"Me Through Time"- in decreasing levels of derailment, and its impact on downstream depressive symptoms.
This is a randomized, double-blind, active-controlled, multi-center study to evaluate the efficacy of AXS-05, compared to bupropion, in preventing the relapse of depressive symptoms in subjects with major depressive disorder (MDD) who have responded to treatment with AXS-05.
The goal of this open label case series is to learn about the feasibility of conducting a future randomised controlled trial to evaluate how well the Perinatal SMILES intervention works in improving post-cesarean mood in low-income women. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is it feasible to recruit a sufficient number of participants? 2. Is it feasible to administer Perinatal SMILES and 3. Is it feasible to collect participant outcomes? To profile EEG in participants at rest and in response to TMS, before and after subcutaneous ketamine Participants will: 1. Complete five sessions of interpersonal therapy 2. Receive two skin injections of ketamine, approximately 24 hours apart, in the first four postpartum day 3. Receive additional therapy sessions before (to prepare for ketamine) and after (interpersonal therapy) each ketamine injection 4. Undergo assessments of brain electrical activity (at rest and evoked by trans-cranial magnetic stimulation) before and at three timepoints in the 10 hours after each ketamine injection 5. Complete mood assessments over the first 12 postpartum weeks
The purpose of the study is to determine how cognitive control training (CCT) changes behavior in youth with subclinical depressive symptoms. This research will show what types of behavior changes are important for CCT to help reduce depressive symptoms. In the future, we will use this information to try to improve how we prevent the development of depression, so that it can help more patients.
Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV2 (PASC), colloquially known as "long-COVID," is thought to affect between 10-30% of all COVID-19 survivors. Patients with PASC also report worsening behavioral health symptoms over time that include new-onset depression, anxiety, and even suicidal behavior. The purpose of this randomized, double-blind, controlled trial is to test the efficacy of a glutamate modulator among PASC patients suffering from new-onset or worsening of depressive symptoms.
The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and fidelity of implementation of the Mindfulness Based Dementia Care (MBDC) program to reduce depressive symptoms in care partners (CPs) of people living with dementia (PLWD).

This observational study aims to characterize the relationship between preoperative depressive symptoms and opioid use/ misuse after surgery using a perioperative learning health care system. We will follow a prospective cohort of patients undergoing elective surgery.
The goal of the proposed project is to conduct a feasibility clinical trial comparing group-based acceptance and commitment therapy for physical activity, (ACT; ACTivity) to a time- and attention-matched standard PA intervention (i.e., PA education, goal-setting, and self-monitoring) plus relaxation training comparison condition (Relaxercise) among 60 low-active adults (ages 18-65) with elevated depressive symptoms. Participants will be randomized to treatment condition, followed for 6 months, including the 8-week treatment. Participants will be randomized 1:1 to treatment condition, followed for 6 months, including the 8-week treatment, and receive a 6-month YMCA membership to equate access to PA facilities.
This study is being done to answer a question on whether a Web App-based Lifestyle Physical Activity Promotion Program is effective in improving depressive symptom experience of midlife Korean American women (WPAPP-K).
The long-term goal is to develop effective parenting strategies to facilitate optimal child development for mothers suffering with PPD symptoms. The overall objective for this application is to study whether this program combined with online depression treatment leads to more responsive parenting (target) and signals improved child language, socioemotional and cognitive development (outcomes) compared to depression treatment alone. Findings from this application can be used to inform a future study to test the effectiveness and implementation of this social media-based parenting program.

This protocol describes a feasibility trial that will evaluate the feasibility of conducting a full-scale phase 3 trial testing the hypothesis that a postoperative sustained, low-dose ketamine infusion can prevent postoperative depressive symptoms when administered to a targeted population of neurosurgical patients with a history of depression.
Individuals with heart disease and depressive symptoms suffer from higher death rates, higher rates of acute cardiac events (such as heart attacks), and faster progression of heart disease compared to those with heart disease who do not have depressive symptoms, and these problems are much worse in rural people. Unfortunately, rural people with heart disease and depressive symptoms do not receive needed therapy for depressive symptoms because of lack of mental health providers in rural areas, worries about stigma, and difficulty accessing mental health care because of multiple barriers to traveling to get care. To overcome these barriers, the investigators will compare the impact of two types of online cognitive behavioral therapy (video-conferenced face-to-face versus self-administered internet-based) and usual care on depressive symptoms to provide patients and healthcare providers with needed information about which is more effective and to increase the number of patients adequately treated.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a protocol for middle- and older-aged Black women with depressive symptoms.
The aim of this study is to establish, in a pilot RCT (approx. N=50 participants) with a time- and attention-matched health enhancement control, (a) the feasibility of the recruitment procedures (screening, eligibility, enrollment rates), and feasibility and acceptability of the (b) MBCT and control interventions (adherence, retention, fidelity, satisfaction, group videoconferencing delivery) and (c) data collection procedures by group (adherence, satisfaction). Hypothesis 1a: Recruitment will be feasible as evidenced by screening, eligibility, and enrollment rates; (1b) the MBCT and control interventions and (1c) data collection procedures in both groups will be feasible and acceptable.
This phase II trial studies the effect of a digital application (app), BNT001, on cognitive-behavioral stress management in patients with stage I-III breast or lung cancer. The app is designed for cancer patients to treat anxiety and depressive symptoms related to their cancer diagnosis. The purpose of this study is to develop and refine procedures for eligibility screening, suicide risk assessment, and delivery of the app prior to the launch of a phase III randomized trial. The impact of the app in managing stress and improving quality of life and mood is a secondary aim.
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate a mobile application (app) for depression treatment. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the mobile app, "Moodivate", or not. If provided with Moodivate, participants will be asked to use the app regularly, at least once per day, throughout the study duration. Participants will be asked to complete electronic questionnaire measures throughout the study period. Participation in this study will take about 12 weeks.
The purpose of this study is to explore if Bright Light Therapy (BLT) as augmentation of depression treatment on an acute psychiatric floor is feasible, helps alleviate depressive symptoms, improve functioning, and decrease length of stay on the psychiatric floor.
Brief Summary: The aim of this study is to explore the initial feasibility and acceptability of (a) Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) adapted for ACS patients; (b) the group videoconferencing delivery medium; and (c) dried blood spot research procedures, to inform refinements for a subsequent pilot RCT.
Major depression (MD) in youth is a serious psychiatric illness with extensive morbidity and mortality. The American Academy of Pediatrics recently released practice guidelines promoting primary care (PC)-based youth MD screening; however, even when diagnosed by PC providers, \<50% of youth with MD access treatment. Thus, a need exists for interventions that are feasible for youths and parents to access and complete-and that may strengthen parents' likelihood of pursuing longer-term services. Single-session interventions (SSIs) may help forward these goals. SSIs include elements of comprehensive treatments, but their brevity makes them easier to disseminate at scale. Meta-analytic evidence suggests SSIs can reduce youth psychopathology, including self-administered (e.g., online) SSIs. One computer-based SSI, teaching growth mindset (GM; viewing personal traits as malleable), has reduced adolescent depressive symptoms in multiple RCTs. A second computer-based SSI was recently developed to reduce youth depressive symptoms via targeting reductions in self-hate-a symptom identified as important for the maintenance of other depressive symptoms in teenagers. This study will test whether either the growth mindset SSI (GM-SSI), the self-kindness SSI (SK-SSI), or both SSIs reduce symptoms of depression in adolescents, relative to an active "supportive therapy" SSI, which teaches adolescents to share their emotions with trusted others. Youths participating in existing research through the Healthy Brain Network (N=501) will receive either the growth mindset SSI (GM-SSI), the self-kindness SSI (SK-SSI), or the supportive therapy SSI (ST-SSI). The investigators will examine whether the GM-SSI and/or the SK-SSI, versus the ST-SSI will reduce youth depressive symptoms across three months. Results may identify two novel, potent, and brief interventions for adolescent depressive symptoms.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a social media-based parenting program can improve responsive parenting among mothers with Postpartum depression (PPD) symptoms. Participants will be randomized to receive the parenting program plus online depression treatment or online depression treatment alone to assess target engagement. Our overall objective for this application is to study whether this program combined with online depression treatment leads to more responsive parenting (target) and signals improved child language, socioemotional and cognitive development (outcomes) compared to depression treatment alone.
The purpose of this feasibility study is to determine whether it is practical and helpful to provide problem-solving therapy to stroke survivors and their spouses/partners (caregivers) together. It will also compare the experiences of participants who receive problem-solving therapy to those who receive stroke-related health education. Many stroke survivors and caregivers report feeling sad or blue at some point after the stroke. These feelings can impact quality of life. Encountering problems is a part of daily life. These problems can be big or small, but sometimes they can pile up and feel overwhelming, contributing to feelings of sadness. Problem-solving therapy is a tool that teaches structured ways to address current problems or challenges in your life. Participants who are assigned to receive problem-solving therapy will work with a research team member for six, one-hour sessions. During each session, participants will identify a problem (big or small) and create a plan to work on that problem. Participants who are assigned to receive stroke-related health education will work with a research team member who will teach them about various topics related to stroke over six, one-hour sessions. Each session will cover information about a different topic related to stroke. Outcomes data will be collected at approximately 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 13 weeks from baseline.
The goal of the project is to evaluate for the first time, the effectiveness of using a telehealth approach to reducing perinatal depressive symptoms in diverse groups of childbearing women; urban and rural-dwelling, and from Hispanic and predominantly North European Descent populations. Pregnant women connect for one hour weekly, for 8 weeks, using their own electronic device, from whatever location they choose (e.g. home), to attend videoconference groups facilitated by a mental health professional. The approach is cost effective and reduces barriers to access to mental health services, particularly for women living in rural, low-resource, and minority communities, and those without adequate transportation, financial resources, childcare, or work release time.
We are doing this study to help patients, caregivers, and providers make decisions about how best to manage depressive symptoms in advanced heart failure. There are two evidence-based treatment approaches to treating depression in patients with advanced heart failure, behavioral action psychotherapy and treatment with anti-depressant medications. In this study we want to compare the effectiveness of these two treatment options to learn which treatment works better.
This clinical trial studies how well Talking Pictures social media intervention works in reducing depressive symptoms and improving spiritual well-being and quality of life in adolescent and young adult cancer patients. Talking Pictures social media intervention may help doctors better learn how to most effectively provide psychosocial support to adolescent and young adult cancer patients.
