Impact of a Novel Extended Depth of Focus Intraocular Lens on Visual and Lifestyle Enhancement
Description

The introduction of presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (PC-IOLs) has provided cataract and refractive surgeons the ability to provide patients with a wider range of visual success and spectacle independence post-cataract surgery.Multifocal (MFIOL) IOLs have the ability to provide near and distance vision, and in the case of trifocal IOLs, near, intermediate and distance. Despite the significant technological evolution of MFIOL's, the potential for visual disturbances, such as glare, halos and starbursts still exists-and in much greater frequency compared to their monofocal counterparts. Extended depth of focus (EDOF) IOLs aim to provide patients with a functional range of vision, with a similar visual disturbance profile to a monofocal lens. In this way, this subset of PC-IOL's can offer patients some degree of spectacle independence, with a significantly lower incidence of visual disturbances. The Vivity Extended Vision IOL is the first of its kind to offer Wavefront Stretching technology, providing patients with an excellent extended range of vision from intermediate to distance, as well as some functional near vision. Prior studies have demonstrated very good vision in both bright and dim lighting conditions, as well as a high degree of spectacle independence with the Vivity IOL, as compared to a monofocal IOL. Studies evaluating the ability of the Vivity IOL to provide a significant impact on patient lifestyle (e.g. patient independence from spectacles for most activities with a low rate of visual disturbances) in the United States in a 'real-world' setting have yet to be performed. In addition, influence of pre-and-perioperative variables such as sex, age, prior refractive surgery, IOL formula used, axial length, astigmatism, use of intraoperative aberrometry, femtosecond laser and pupillary expansion devices has yet to be evaluated on the postoperative success of this IOL. This study will be comprised of patients with visually significant cataracts who will undergo cataract extraction with implantation of the spherical and/or toric models of the Vivity Extended Vision (Alcon, Fort Worth TX) intraocular lens. Upon decision of the patient and surgeon to undergo surgery, patients will be offered the option to enroll in this observational study.

A Clinical Study to Evaluate The Safety and Effectiveness of The RxSight Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) In Subjects Desiring an Extended Depth of Focus
Description

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate, for the visual correction of aphakia and presbyopia, the safety and effectiveness of the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) to provide an extended depth of focus (improve intermediate and near visual acuity without compromising distance visual acuity) in subjects who have undergone bilateral implantation with the LAL and subsequent light treatments for refractive and presbyopia correction (LAL group).

COMPLETED
Clinical Evaluation of a Small Aperture Extended Depth of Focus Intraocular Lens
Description

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of the IC-8 IOL implanted in one eye and a monofocal or monofocal toric IOL implanted in the fellow eye in accordance with the indication.

Myopia Progression With a Novel Extended Depth of Focus Contact Lens
Description

Myopia has been increasing in prevalence and severity throughout the world over the last 30 years. Increasing levels of myopia are associated with increased frequencies and severity of various ocular pathologies, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachments and other retinal pathologies and myopic maculopathy. Slowing myopia progression at a young age before the eye reaches excessive axial length may help to reduce the future risks of these ocular pathologies. Conventional spectacles and contact lenses are prescribed correct myopia by moving the central focus of the eye for distance viewing from in front of the retina to on the retina centrally, or at the fovea. To varying degrees, these lenses allow the light to focus behind the retina, at varying peripheral retinal locations. These findings have led to efforts to design spectacle and contact lenses which correct peripheral hyperopic defocus, to reduce myopia progression. The consensus theory for how both multifocal contact lenses and orthokeratology can control myopia progression is that they each can reduce, eliminate, or reverse relative peripheral hyperopic defocus. Existing published studies on the use of multifocal contact lenses to control myopia in humans have utilized lenses with the distance correction in the center with peripheral plus power to correct the peripheral blur. Until recently, there have been no daily disposable multifocal lenses in the US market with distance center designs. The NaturalVue contact lens from Visioneering Technologies, Inc. is the first daily disposable distance center multifocal in the US. It has a novel extended depth of focus design where the distance correction is in the center of the optical zone, surrounded by a zone characterized by having a seamless, rapid transition from the distance power to a highly plus power at the edge of the optical zone. This study will analyze the myopia progression of patients in the investigator's practice while wearing their habitual visual corrections for periods up to two years prior to being switched to NaturalVue contact lenses. They will then be followed for up to two years after beginning use of this novel lens design and the differences in their myopia progression after versus before this novel lens will be analyzed. Axial lengths will be measured with the IOLMaster after switching to NaturalVue, at six-month intervals and will be compared to axial lengths which have been collected with habitual corrections.

A Clinical Study of the ACRYSOF® IQ Extended Depth of Focus Intraocular Lens (IOL)
Description

The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the safety and performance of ACRYSOF IQ extended depth of focus (EDF) intraocular lens (IOL) at Month 6. Depth of focus (DOF) is the amount of focal plane displacement behind a lens that does not degrade the image quality of a distant object. A larger DOF allows sharp images of closer objects and may provide improved vision at intermediate and near distances.

Clinical Evaluation and Comparison of the Tecnis Symfony Optiblue and Tecnis Symfony IOLs
Description

The goal of this clinical study is to compare the Tecnis Symfony Optiblue intraocular lens implant to the Tecnis Symfony intraocular lens implant in patients over 22 years old with cataracts in both eyes. The main questions it aims to answer are: Which lens has less nighttime side effects? Which lens has higher patient satisfaction? Participants will undergo a minimum of 7 study visits where they will complete a variety of vision tests and vision questionnaires.

Effect of Intraocular Lens (IOL) Centration and Tilt on Visual Performance With Clareon® Vivity® IOL Implantation
Description

The goal of this observational study is to assess the effect of intraocular lens (IOL) movement in patients who have undergone Clareon® Vivity® IOL implantation. The main question it aims to answer is: Does an association exist between IOL movement and patient quality of vision? Participants implanted with Clareon® Vivity® and Vivity® Toric IOLs will be asked to do the following: * consent to participate in the study * allow researchers to access their personal medical records * undergo a series of tests to assess the position of their IOLs and quality of vision Researchers will assess participant examination results to determine whether an association exists between IOL movement and patient quality of vision.
