Partial Sleep Restriction in Chronic Low Back Pain: A Feasibility Study
Description

Our goal is to observational study is to determine feasibility of partial sleep restriction in individuals with CLBP+I and correlation findings with features of central sensitization. * Identify feasibility of sleep restriction protocol * Identify correlation between less sleep and central sensitization Sleep will be monitored for 2 weeks (baseline sleep monitoring period). Then participants will be asked to restrict their sleep to 80% of their normal sleep duration for 5 nights (sleep restriction period). Then sleep will be monitored again for 2 weeks (sleep recovery period).

Description

The purpose of this clinical investigation, the AMEND TS Early Feasibility Study is to evaluate the safety and functionality of the AMEND Trans-Septal System for annuloplasty as treatment of mitral regurgitation. Protocol Design Rationale The investigational device under this protocol consists of a "D"-shaped semi-rigid ring that is implanted using a transseptal approach. The ability to deploy the annuloplasty ring in a percutaneous fashion affords an improved safety profile for surgical candidates, as well as surgical style solution for those patients that are at elevated risk for surgery due to comorbidities and advanced age. This early feasibility study allows treatment of higher risk surgical candidates with a surgical- level annuloplasty repair therapy by the AMEND™ Implant. This clinical investigation is intended to evaluate the safety and functionality of the AMEND™ Trans-Septal System. Study results are expected to provide information that cannot be obtained through non-clinical testing, due to the limitations of in-vivo and in-vitro test models. The AMEND™ Trans-septal System has previously undergone extensive preclinical and bench testing as well as initial OUS clinical experience. The results of these tests and clinical data obtained so far, justify the use of the device in the EFS IDE study as proposed in this study protocol. DEVICE DESCRIPTION Valcare Medical AMENDTM Trans-Septal System is a mitral valve repair annuloplasty ring implanted in a trans-catheter method intended for correction of mitral regurgitation. It is designed to be used as standalone therapy or in combination with other repair treatments. The device is delivered through a catheter using a trans-septal approach and implanted in the beating heart on the atrial surface of the mitral valve annulus similar to surgical annuloplasty rings. The AMENDTM Trans-Septal System consists of a semi-rigid annuloplasty ring (implant), a delivery system (catheter), and accessories (Stage, Introducer sheath). The implant delivered under fluoroscopic and echocardiographic guidance, is placed and fixed to achieve an anatomic outcome that is consistent with standard open surgical annuloplasty procedures. The system is a single-use device, supplied sterile, non-pyrogenic and ready-for-use. Indications for Use The Valcare Medical AMEND™ Trans-Septal System is intended for correction of mitral insufficiency in adult male and female patients. It is indicated to treat patients with mitral regurgitation using a percutaneous direct annuloplasty approach. The decision to use an annuloplasty ring is made by the heart center team after reviewing the risks and benefits of alternative procedures and evaluating the patient's mitral valve disease.

Clinical Protocol CERN Feasibility Study
Description

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if the intravaginal Cern device works to treat bacterial vaginosis and fungal vaginitis in premenopausal women. It will also learn about the safety of the device. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does the device accomplish symptom resolution and negative diagnostic tests post-treatment? What medical problems do participants have when using the intravaginal device? Participants will use the investigational intravaginal device for 5 consecutive days, participate in teleconferences and weekly follow-ups, attend in-clinic visits, and maintain a study diary.

A Feasibility Study in Combat Athletes with Mild Traumatic Brain Injury
Description

The use of Hyberbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) would be a new treatment plan rather than conventional rest. If effective, this new use technology would add to the clinical treatment among mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) patients. The use of a point of care Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) biomarker would aid in clinical decision making to create a new care plan of return to sport among unarmed combat athletes who suffer from mTBI. The innovation would be a new treatment and diagnosis strategy that will protect these athletes from serious long-term sequelae. There are no published randomized controlled studies using HBOT to treat concussed athletes within one week of injury. There are no published studies using GFAP levels to predict post concussive symptoms (PCS).

Mental Imagery to Improve Quadriceps Strength Post Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: a Feasibility Study
Description

The goal of this clinical trial is to understand if people recovering from anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) surgery will complete mental imagery training and if this will improve their injured leg's strength. The main questions are: * Will people complete a five-day mental imagery exercise schedule while in physical therapy for ACLR? * Does mental imagery exercise help raise leg strength during ACLR recovery? Researchers will also compare if different mental imagery exercises involving leg extension or squats will change leg strength. Participants will be asked to: * Participate in two testing sessions to make measurements of leg function * Complete about 10 minutes of mental imagery exercises once per day for five days at home and write down whether they complete the exercises.

The study aimed to recruit 30 participants to track their daily symptoms, triggers, and habits over 30 days while completing three questionnaires about their experience with the portal. Adolescents may have limited time to engage in physical activity during the school day prompting investigations of before and after-school times along with time efficient programming. High-resistance circuit training has been used as a time effective protocol, however adolescents have yet to be studied. The primary aim was to assess feasibility (recruitment, sample size, consent rate, retention rate, fidelity, attendance, adverse events, and participant experience) of a high-resistance circuit training or strength training intervention, conducted before or after-school. The second aim was to explore changes in body composition, strength, and aerobic fitness. Researchers compared feasibility outcomes as well as participant experience between time frames and treatment group.

Feasibility Study of CBCT for IGRT in Cancer Patients
Description

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an imaging technology that is incorporated into many modern radiation therapy systems. The quality of conventional CBCT is good enough to align patients for their daily radiation therapy but CBCT images have poor contrast and are susceptible to imaging artefacts that limit their usability for other tasks in the radiation therapy workflow. Varian Medical Systems, the sponsor of this study, has developed new CBCT imaging technology called HyperSight that so far has demonstrated increased image quality compared with conventional CBCT images. This new HyperSight CBCT imager has previously been built into Varian Halcyon and Ethos treatment machines, where the imager is enclosed in a ring that rotates around the patient. Now, HyperSight has been built into a Varian treatment machine, called TrueBeam, where the imager is mounted on a C-shaped arm that rotates around you to acquire an image. This study is being done to evaluate the image quality of HyperSight CBCT compared to conventional CBCT images, and to determine whether HyperSight CBCT can improve the process of delivering radiation treatments. The goal of this study is to collect images from this new HyperSight-TrueBeam CBCT imager from a variety of patients and locations in the body. The images will be analyzed to determine whether their quality is high enough to use for tasks other than positioning patients for treatment. For example, the study will determine whether the HyperSight images could be used to calculate a radiation plan.

Prescribing Lorazepam for IUD Insertion: Pilot Feasibility Study

The objective of this pilot study is to discuss the feasibility of prescribing lorazepam prior to IUD insertion and of measuring effect of lorazepam on anxiety and pain with Intrauterine Device (IUD) insertion. The target population for this study will be 25 adult participants scheduled for an IUD insertion at a UW Family Medicine residency clinic. Participants will be followed for 1 appointment visit.

NHLBI and Cook Trans-Atrial Intra-Pericardial Tricuspid Annuloplasty (TRAIPTA) Early Feasibility Study
Description

Background: Tricuspid valve regurgitation is a disease where one of the heart valves leaks. The leak affects blood flow. People with this disease may feel breathless and lack energy; they may need to stay in the hospital when fluid builds up in the body. The tricuspid is the most difficult valve to repair with surgery. Researchers want to try a new procedure called trans-atrial intra-pericardial tricuspid annuloplasty (TRAIPTA). Objective: To test TRAIPTA in people with tricuspid valve regurgitation. Eligibility: Adults aged 21 years and over with tricuspid valve regurgitation. They must not be eligible for standard surgical repair. Design: Participants will be screened. They will have tests of their heart function; these will include blood tests, imaging scans, and a 6-minute walking test. Participants will enter the hospital for at least 1 day. The TRAIPTA procedure will be done under sedation or general anesthesia. The TRAIPTA study device is a loop that will be placed around the heart like a belt. It acts like a lasso to reduce leakage of the heart valve. Doctors will put the device in place by inserting a wire through a vein in the leg; they will thread the device up to the heart through the vein. The wire will be removed, but the TRAIPTA device will remain in place. Participants will have follow-up visits 4 times in 1 year after the procedure. These visits will include physical exams, blood tests, imaging scans, and other tests of heart function. Researchers will contact participants or their doctors for heart test results for another 4 years....

ABC-CT Pre-School Feasibility Study
Description

This is a multicenter study that aims to determine whether the EEG and ET experiments studied in the ABC-CT Phase 1 and ABC-CT Confirmation studies can be successfully used with 3-5-year-old children and to determine the viability of these measures as potential biomarkers in 3-5-year-old children with ASD. Blood (DNA) samples will be collected from participants with ASD and biological parents for future genomic analyses, and raw, processed, and analyzed data will be shared to create a community resource accessible for use by all qualified investigators. These objectives are designed to advance the long term objective of developing promising biomarkers via the FDA Biomarker Qualification Program. This feasibility study aims to enroll 25 ASD and 25 TD eligible participants who are 3-5 years old.

The goal of this study is to learn if the prototype adjustable prone positioning frame is a feasible design for use during neurosurgical procedures which utilize intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI). The main questions it aims to answer are: * Is the prototype prone positioning device design feasible for use during neurosurgical procedures which utilize intraoperative MRI? * Does use of the prototype device place the patient at increased risk of complications compared to the standard positioning pads? Researchers will place patients in the prone position on the prototype device during neurosurgical procedures that utilize intraoperative MRI and observe for any problems with the positioning device or complications attributable to the positioning device.

CoMind Early Feasibility Study
Description

The purpose of this research, which has been determined as non-significant risk by the central IRB overseeing the study, is to obtain information to help further develop a machine (a medical device) to measure the pressure around the brain from the outside (this pressure is called intracranial pressure or ICP). Monitoring and managing ICP is an important part of care for patients with conditions such as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). However, the current way of measuring ICP requires surgery to drill a hole into the skull, and therefore can introduce additional risks such as infections and pain. Recent research has shown it may be possible to measure ICP without needing surgery. This technology is in development, but large amounts of data is required to build these new devices. Through collecting a large database of information from patients who have both the routine surgical device and the research device applied to their head, the research team will work to develop and test an effective and potentially safer way of monitoring patient ICP.

A Pilot and Feasibility Study to Evaluate High vs Low Glycemic Index Mixed Meal Tolerance Test in Adolescents and Young Adults With Cystic Fibrosis
Description

The goal of this study is to determine the extent to which excess dietary simple sugars serve as a secondary mediating factor in Cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD) development. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Whether conducting a randomized 2x2 factorial design that evaluates acute postprandial changes in glucose over 2 hours following ingestion of a mixed meal challenge that varies by glycemic index and consumption of a sugar-sweetened beverage is acceptable and feasible. * What are the preliminary changes in postprandial hyperglycemia, islet cell function, and incretin response to a high or low Glycemic Index mixed meal tolerance test (MMTT) with and without Sugar-Sweetened Beverages (SSB) in adolescents and young adults with CF Participants will be randomized to a mixed diet and blood will be drawn before and after the mixed meal challenge.
