The purpose of this study is to collect information on the effects of treatment for gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). We plan to use the findings from this study to better understand GTD survivors' health and quality of life. We would like to know more about the health, quality of life and pregnancies of women treated for GTD. This information will be used to try and improve the treatments for women who have this disease.
This phase II study is evaluating the activity of Pemetrexed in patients diagnosed with low risk Gestational Trophoblastic Tumor (GTT) that have failed prior treatment.
The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the effectiveness of the ASk Questions in GYnecologic Oncology question prompt list (ASQ-GYO QPL) at improving patient self-efficacy, distress, physician trust, and knowledge compared to usual care during new patient gynecologic oncology visits. Also to determine the acceptability of the ASQ-GYO QPL with new gynecologic oncology patients.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors predict whether patients undergoing donor stem cell transplant will develop acute graft-versus-host disease. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying T cells to see how well they help in predicting acute graft-versus-host disease in patients undergoing donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Alemtuzumab and glucocorticoids, such as prednisone or methylprednisolone, may be an effective treatment for acute graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving alemtuzumab together with glucocorticoids works in treating newly diagnosed acute graft-versus-host disease in patients who have undergone donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Lithium carbonate may be an effective treatment for intestinal graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying lithium carbonate in treating patients with acute intestinal graft-versus-host-disease after donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Donor mesenchymal stem cell infusion may be an effective treatment for acute or chronic graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of donor mesenchymal stem cells in treating patients with acute or chronic graft-versus-host disease after undergoing a donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Methotrexate and glucocorticoid therapy, such as prednisone or methylprednisolone, may be an effective treatment for acute graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving methotrexate together with glucocorticoids works in treating patients with newly diagnosed acute graft-versus-host disease after donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Mycophenolate mofetil added to immunosuppressive treatment regimens may be effective in treating newly diagnosed chronic graft-versus-host disease caused by stem cell transplantation. It is not yet known whether immunosuppressive treatment regimens are more effective with or without mycophenolate mofetil in treating chronic graft-versus-host disease. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying whether the addition of mycophenolate mofetil improves the efficacy of immunosuppressive treatment regimens in patients with newly diagnosed chronic graft-versus-host disease.
RATIONALE: Beclomethasone may be an effective treatment for graft-versus-host disease. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of beclomethasone in treating patients who have graft-versus-host disease of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, or colon.
RATIONALE: Interleukin-11 and filgrastim stimulate the production of blood cells. Giving these drugs to stimulate peripheral stem cells that can be collected for peripheral stem cell transplantation may result in fewer side effects after transplant. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of interleukin-11 plus filgrastim prior to peripheral stem cell transplantation in patients who have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, breast cancer, or other solid tumors.
This randomized pilot clinical trial studies the feasibility of a pre-operative and/or post-operative scripted sexual health informational intervention and how well it works in improving sexual function in patients with gynecologic cancer. Discussing sexual outcomes and counseling options with patients may help improve sexual outcomes and/or anxiety after primary gynecologic cancer treatment.
This pilot clinical trial studies stress reduction in improving quality of life in patients with recurrent gynecologic or breast cancer. Participating in a stress reduction program may help improve quality of life in patients with gynecologic or breast cancer.
RATIONALE: Collecting and storing samples of blood, urine, and tissue from patients undergoing a donor stem cell transplant to test in the laboratory may help the study of graft-versus-host disease in the future. PURPOSE: This research study is collecting and storing tissue and DNA samples from patients undergoing a donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood in the laboratory from patients with cancer may help doctors learn more about nausea and vomiting caused by cancer treatment. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is looking at blood samples from patients with cancer who were treated on a clinical trial to control nausea and vomiting during donor stem cell transplant.
This laboratory study is collecting tumor tissue and blood samples from patients with gynecologic tumors. Collecting and storing samples of tumor tissue and blood from patients with cancer to study in the laboratory may help in the study of cancer.
RATIONALE: A donor stem cell transplant can lower the body's immune system, making it difficult to fight off infection. Giving antibiotics, such as moxifloxacin, may help prevent bacterial infections in patients who have recently undergone donor stem cell transplant. It is not yet known whether moxifloxacin is more effective than a placebo in preventing bacterial infections in patients who have recently undergone donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying moxifloxacin to see how well it works compared with a placebo in preventing bacterial infections in patients who have recently undergone donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Antiemetic drugs, such as aprepitant, granisetron, and dexamethasone, may help lessen or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients treated with chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well giving aprepitant together with granisetron and dexamethasone works in preventing nausea and vomiting in patients receiving cyclophosphamide before undergoing an autologous stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Alemtuzumab, tacrolimus, and methylprednisolone may be an effective treatment for graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving alemtuzumab together with tacrolimus and methylprednisolone works in treating acute graft-versus-host disease in patients who have undergone donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Understanding the emotional needs of spouses or others who are living with and caring for patients who have undergone stem cell transplantation may help improve the quality of life of both the caregivers and the patients. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying the emotional needs of caregivers of patients who have undergone stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Antifungals such as ravuconazole may be effective in preventing fungal infections in patients undergoing chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of ravuconazole in preventing fungal infections in patients undergoing allogeneic stem cell transplantation.
RATIONALE: White blood cells from donors may be able to kill cancer cells in patients with cancer that has recurred following bone marrow or peripheral stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of donated white blood cells in treating patients who have relapsed cancer following transplantation of donated bone marrow or peripheral stem cells.
RATIONALE: Biological therapies use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. Combining chemotherapy and peripheral stem cell transplantation with biological therapy may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of biological therapy with sargramostim, interleukin-2, and interferon alfa following chemotherapy and peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have cancer.
RATIONALE: Interleukin-12 may kill tumor cells by stopping blood flow to the tumor and by stimulating a person's white blood cells to kill cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of interleukin-12 in treating patients who have hematologic cancer or solid tumor.
RATIONALE: Antiemetic drugs, such as aprepitant, ondansetron, and dexamethasone, may help lessen or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing a stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying aprepitant, ondansetron, and dexamethasone to see how well they work compared to placebo, ondansetron, and dexamethasone in preventing nausea and vomiting in patients who are undergoing a stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Telephone counseling by trained counselors may enhance the well-being and quality of life of patients who have undergone stem cell transplantation for cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized clinical trial to compare the effectiveness of standard follow-up care with extended follow-up care in treating patients who have undergone stem cell transplantation for cancer.
RATIONALE: Antivirals such as valacyclovir act against viruses and may be effective in preventing cytomegalovirus. It is not yet known if valacyclovir is effective in preventing cytomegalovirus in patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of valacyclovir in preventing cytomegalovirus in patients who are undergoing donor stem cell transplantation.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to chronic graft-versus-host disease in patients who have undergone donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying chronic graft-versus-host disease in patients who have undergone donor stem cell transplant.
RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood in the laboratory from patients who have undergone a donor bone marrow transplant may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to graft-versus-host disease. It may also help doctors predict how patients will respond to a donor bone marrow transplant. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is looking at early detection of graft-versus-host disease in patients undergoing a donor bone marrow transplant.
RATIONALE: Bone marrow transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to kill tumor cells. Sometimes the transplanted cells can make an immune response against the body's normal tissues. Stem cells that have been treated in the laboratory to remove lymphocytes may prevent this from happening. PURPOSE: Clinical trial to prevent graft-versus-host disease in patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
