Pilot Study of Brief Intervention to Support Diabetes Health-Related Quality of Life
Description

The aims of this pilot study are to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, preliminary impact, and costs of a brief, behavioral intervention delivered remotely by diabetes educators to people with type 1 diabetes and their family members. The purpose of the intervention is to support health-related quality of life for people with type 1 diabetes of all ages and to support the diabetes health-related quality of life of their parents and partners. This pilot study will explore how this intervention works as a supplement to routine medical care in three clinical care settings: an adult specialty diabetes care setting, a pediatric subspecialty diabetes care setting, and for people who receive diabetes medical care from a primary care provider. To maximize data about feasibility and acceptability of the intervention, all participants in the pilot study will receive the intervention and there will not be randomization to a control condition.

Well-Being and Health-Related Quality of Life in Cancer Patients and Survivors During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Description

This study investigates the well-being and health-related quality of life in cancer patients and survivors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using questionnaires may help researchers gain an understanding of how experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic (e.g., exposure, risk factors, testing, isolation, seropositivity, hospitalization, loss of family or friends, loss of income), may impact multiple domains of health-related quality of life (physical, emotional and social well-being), and other areas such as COVID-19-specific psychological distress (e.g., fear, anxiety and depressive symptoms), and disruptions to health care, finances, and social interactions.

A Study of Health-Related Quality of Life in People With Multiple Myeloma Receiving Daratumumab or Lenalidomide
Description

The purpose of this study is to compare maintenance therapy approaches in people with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) that has responded well to a first round of treatment. The researchers will compare giving the usual maintenance therapy (lenalidomide) with giving daratumumab as maintenance therapy, and they will look at which drug gives participants a better health-related quality of life during treatment. The researchers will measure participants' quality of life using various questionnaires. This study will help researchers find out whether this different approach of giving daratumumab as maintenance therapy is better, the same as, or worse than the usual approach.

RECRUITING
Well-Being and Health-Related Quality of Life in Melanoma Patients During COVID-19 Pandemic
Description

The primary purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of how experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of COVID-19 status, may have impacted multiple domains of health-related quality of life and other areas such as COVID-19 specific psychological distress, and disruptions to health care, finances and social interactions. We will also evaluate the extent to which resiliency factors such as social support, perceived benefits under times of stress, and ability to manage stress may buffer associations between COVID-19 experiences and HRQoL. To meet these objectives, we have developed a 10-minute questionnaire that taps into these areas and is based on prior work addressing concerns of other pandemics or national crises. Participants will have previously consented to protocol PA15-0336 and have provided prior lifestyle data. This will allow us to connect the COVID-19 survey data with prior existing data.

Measuring Health Related Quality of Life in AYAs
Description

AIM1a: AYAs with cancer experience many challenges that impact their health-related quality of life (HRQOL) but few measures adequately capture AYAs' HRQOL in valid and reliable ways. The main goal of the study is to expand the use of the Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System (PROMIS) to provide valid and reliable assessment of important HRQOL concerns for AYAs. The study team will do this by validating existing PROMIS measures and developing and validating new measures of financial distress, fertility/parenthood concerns, and body image concerns for AYAs with cancer. AIM1b: Investigators have developed conceptual frameworks and created item pools for body image, fertility, and financial burden domains and are ready to proceed with the next aim of our measure development work, cognitive interview testing.

Aquatic Locomotor Training may be another tool for therapists to utilize for clinical improvements in function and gait for the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) population. To determine the efficacy of Aquatic Locomotor Training on improving rehabilitation outcomes among patients with incomplete traumatic cervical Spinal Cord Injury by assessing these parameters: 1. Walking speed and endurance 2. Functional balance and fall risk 3. HRQoL To describe the feasibility of conducting Aquatic Locomotor Training as an Locomotor Training modality for the rehabilitation of patients with incomplete traumatic cervical Spinal Cord Injury.

COMPLETED
Health Related Quality of Life in Pediatric Central Nervous System (CNS) Tumors: A Feasibility Study Utilizing PROMIS
Description

In this research study the investigators want to learn more about the quality of life before, during and after cancer treatment in patients with central nervous system brain tumors. Often CNS tumors and cancer treatment can cause many physical and emotional problems and side effects. Some of these problems and treatment side effects can cause a change in a patient's qualify of life and overall well-being. Quality of life questionnaires are used to measure well-being and ability to carry out daily activities by asking patients to answer several questions about their physical, emotional, and social well-being. In this research study we want to find out if patient's answers to these questions change over the course of your treatment. We also want to see if doctors and nurses can use these answers to the questions to help patients feel better and increase their activity during cancer treatment.

Supportive Care Questionnaires in Gathering Data on Unmet Needs and Health-Related Quality of Life in Latina Breast Cancer Survivors After Surgery, Chemotherapy, or Radiation Therapy
Description

This phase I/II research trial studies supportive care questionnaires in gathering data on unmet needs and health-related quality of life in Latina breast cancer survivors after surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. Questionnaires that address unmet supportive care needs and health-related quality of life of breast cancer survivors may help doctors learn about barriers to cancer care that are linked to language, acculturation, knowledge about diagnosis and care, and financial concerns. Learning about unmet needs of breast cancer patients may help increase quality of life and decrease healthcare utilization and costs.

Health Related Quality of Life Following Hepatectomy for Colorectal Liver Metastasis: Global and Disease Specific Changes Over Time
Description

This study is being done to learn more about health related quality of life factors in people having surgery for colorectal liver metastasis. The investigators will look at how these factors may change over time. The information gained from this study will help the investigators to understand the long-term effects that cancer treatments have on the health related quality of life of patients. This information is of high value and will help doctors talk to patients about the possible effects of their operations. While many patients live a long time after such operations, the studies that have been done do not tell the full story of what patients go through after surgery. This study will help us to understand cancer treatment from the patient's perspective. It will also help cancer patients make better decisions about their treatment options and will help them know what to expect after the operation.
