9 Clinical Trials for Various Conditions
Researchers are doing this study to look at whether sexual health counselling and using non-hormonal moisturizer at the start of ovarian suppression may be able to prevent or reduce side effects such as vaginal dryness and sexual dysfunction. Researchers will compare how effective this prevention intervention works compared to the usual approach, which is to treat these side effects after they start. All participants will also complete surveys about their sexual health. This information will help researchers learn more about the sexual health of women with breast cancer receiving ovarian suppression.
The primary goal of this PCORI proposal is to evaluate the impact of enhanced provider and clinical staff training to address the health disparities of SGM CHC patients to ultimately improve their health outcomes because CHCs are a key part of the U.S. health care delivery system for underserved populations. The current application proposes to test an intervention designed to understand how CHCs, including front line staff and safety net clinical providers, can identify and provide optimal care for their SGM patients, and will determine whether enhanced training of CHC staff in best practices for the provision of primary care for SGM patients will improve their clinical outcomes. The time is right for routinization of SOGI measures in EHRs and evaluation of the optimal methods to train primary care providers in the best practices for the care of SGM patients.
The purpose of this study is to explore drivers and mitigators of anal sex stigma in healthcare, and then to develop and pilot an intervention for health workers that mitigates the deterrent effects of this stigma on the engagement of gay and bisexual men in HIV-related services.
The primary objective is to conduct a pilot study to determine the efficacy of evidence-based interventions delivered in primary care clinic settings on parent-teen health communication.
The purpose of this study is to determine if hypnotic relaxation therapy is a more effective intervention for improving self-image in women who have been diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancer when compared to progressive muscle relaxation therapy.
This study consists of a randomized controlled trial of a multi-session cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) group intervention that addresses coping with discrimination and medical mistrust among Black sexual minority men (SMM). Primary intervention objectives include increasing health care engagement and receipt of evidence-based preventive care, as well as better coping and reduced anticipated and internalized stigma, and medical mistrust among intervention participants.
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of two mobile health technologies (text messaging or a mobile app) designed to help people take HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as directed by the clinic. PrEP is the use of a daily anti-HIV medications by HIV-negative people to help prevent HIV infection.
We will conduct a randomized trial to compare differences in sexually transmitted infection (STI) treatment adherence between patients receiving text messages versus those receiving usual care (e.g. no text messages). We hypothesize that STI treatment adherence will be 20% higher among patients randomized to receipt of two-way text messaging services.
The proposed virtual training prototype will provide Making Proud Choices (MPC) facilitator trainees the opportunity to make decisions, build facilitator skills, practice core concepts and enhance self-efficacy with a virtual audience programmed to display a range of behaviors and emotions, simulating a true-to-life experience with immediate feedback. Seventy-two adults who have experience working with adolescents but not with MPC, STI, or pregnancy prevention education will receive MPC training. Participants will be randomly assigned to either: 1) virtual training in the MPC module on condom use n=36), or 2) dfusion/ETR's traditional in-person training in the same module (n=36). Using mixed methods (survey, focus groups, observations), the project will evaluate the virtual training's impact on STI/pregnancy prevention knowledge, teaching efficacy, and teaching skills and its usability, feasibility, and acceptability.
