This is a research study to determine if giving acetaminophen intravenously in hte operating room will decrease the number of patients who require additional pain medicine, such as morphine, after surgery in the recovery room.
The purpose of this study is to assess the use of IV acetaminophen (Ofirmev) as a and safe and efficacious agent in reducing post-operative pain; we hypothesize that its use will reduce post-operative pain when compared to a control group using the visual analogue score (VAS) analog pain scoring system.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of esmolol, a drug which is commonly administered during surgery to help control blood pressure and heart rate, on postoperative pain levels and requirements for pain medication.
