The purpose of this study is to examine the feasibility of using sipIT tools (i.e., wrist-worn sensors, smart water bottles, mobile applications) to increase compliance with physician-recommended fluid consumption guidelines in participants with a history of urolithiasis.
Prior studies have shown that the source of dietary protein can have a significant impact on urinary stone risk. However, whey and plant protein isolates have not been compared. This is an important distinction as protein supplements fortified foods are increasingly popular. Herein, we seek to investigate the effect of different protein supplements, in an otherwise identical diet, on urinary stone risk.
The aims of this study are to 1) Conduct a randomized clinical trial of selective versus empiric diet plus pharmacologic therapy in high-risk stone formers and 2) Determine adverse effects from, and adherence to selective and empiric strategies.
A randomized clinical trial to investigate the impact of increased fluid intake and increased urine output on the recurrence rate of urinary stone disease (USD) in adults and children. The primary aim of the trial is to determine whether a multi-component program of behavioral interventions to increase fluid intake will result in reduced risk of stone disease progression over a 2-year period.
This a single-center prospective randomized controlled trial. Subjects will be assigned to the standard of care dietary recommendations for a low sodium diet (LSD) vs. the standard of care dietary recommendations for a low sodium diet plus a mobile application that analyzes sodium content of shopping lists that are created prior to shopping trips to the grocery store over an 8-week study period. An initial pilot phase will be done to ensure adequate percentage of subjects are completing the study in the intervention group and that adequate data is being collected.
