Extension, Carbidopa-levodopa in Neovascular AMD
Description

This protocol is an extension of protocol 0002, Proof of Concept and Dose Ranging Study of carbidopa-levodopa in Neovascular AMD. that is a 3 month study of escalating doses of carbidopa-levodopa in neovascular AMD. This trial is a 9 month extension for patients who successfully complete protocol 0002 and wish to continue carbidopa-levodopa therapy. It will use the two higher dose regimens of protocol 0002. these will be assigned according to how well the higher dose was tolerated in protocol 0002.

A Multiple Dose Study of AVD-104 for Geographic Atrophy (GA) Secondary to Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
Description

Investigate the Safety, Pharmacokinetics, and Treatment effects of Single and Multi-dose of Intravitreal AVD-104 in participants with geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration.

RECRUITING
A Masked, Placebo-controlled Study to Assess Iptacopan in Age-related Macular Degeneration
Description

The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of Iptacopan to prevent conversion of early or intermediate age-related macular degeneration (AMD) eyes to new incomplete retinal pigment epithelium and outer retinal atrophy (iRORA) or late AMD.

COMPLETED
An Extension Study Assessing the Efficacy and Safety of Brolucizumab in a Treat-to-Control Regimen in Patients With Neovascular Age-related Macular Degeneration Who Have Completed the CRTH258A2303 (TALON) Study
Description

The purpose of this extension study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of brolucizumab used in a Treat-to-Control-regimen for treatment of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration who have completed the CRTH258A2303 (TALON) study. The main objective was to assess brolucizumab's potential for long durability up to 20 weeks. All eligible participants were treated with brolucizumab regardless of their treatment in the TALON study. The study period was 56 weeks including post-treatment follow-up.

COMPLETED
Triple Therapy - PDT Plus IVD and Intravitreal Ranibizumab Versus Lucentis Monotherapy to Treat Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Description

The purpose of this study is to compare triple therapy using Photodynamic therapy, intravitreal Dexamethasone and intravitreal Ranibizumab injections versus monotherapy with intravitreal Ranibizumab alone for the treatment of Age-Related Macular Degeneration.

RECRUITING
A Phase 2 Efficacy and Safety Study of GAL-101, 2% Ophthalmic Solution in Non-foveal Geographic Atrophy Secondary to Non-neovascular AMD
Description

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) affects millions of elderly patients. When advanced, there is Geographic Atrophy (GA) in the retina. This means that there is an area with a loss of light-sensitive cells, called photoreceptors. That part of the retina can no longer see. Atrophy begins as a small spot in the retina distant from the fovea which is the part of the retina responsible for sharp central vision. The GA grows, and when it reaches the fovea, vision is severely diminished, and details cannot be seen anymore. The purpose of the eDREAM study is to understand if GAL-101 can slow the growth of GA and prevent it from reaching the fovea. GAL-101 is given as eyedrops. eDREAM patients will administer study eyedrops every day. Patients will be assigned by chance (randomly) to receive either eye-drops that contain the new medication, GAL-101, or eyedrops without the active drug (Placebo). Neither patients nor doctors will know which treatment was assigned to each patient until the end of the study.

COMPLETED
Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Brolucizumab 6mg Compared to Aflibercept 2 mg in a Treat-to-control Regimen (TALON)
Description

This was a 64-week randomized, double-masked, multi-center, active-controlled, two-arm study in patients with neovascular age related macular degeneration (nAMD) who have not previously received anti- vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) treatment.

COMPLETED
Evaluation of the Precision of the Microperimetry Function of the Spectral OCT/SLO
Description

To conduct a precision study to assess the microperimetry function of the Spectral OCT/SLO. The study will assess variability across measurements taken by three different operator-device configuration across clinical sites, variability between subjects within a given operator-device configuration, and variability within a subject for a single operator-device configuration.

GARM II: A Study on the Genetics of Age-related Maculopathy
Description

The original study (GARM I) has been conducted for more than 18 years at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). GARM II is a nationwide research study about age-related macular degeneration in the next generation of adults (49 to 65 years old). The purpose of this study is to identify the hereditary and exposure risk factors that lead to the development of ARM (Age related maculopathy). Participants will communicate with the research staff through a protected and confidential website and use this website to complete a number of questionnaires during the course of the study (see below). For genetic analyses, the participants will mail in easily self-collected saliva samples in special containers. Eye photographs and eye health records are sent to the research center from local sources through the Internet. Individuals are not expected to come to UCLA in order to participate. https://jseiclinres.jsei.ucla.edu/garm/ Participants will be expected to answer questionnaires or surveys about medical history, ocular history and visual symptoms, family history, smoking, dietary supplements and light exposure.
