5 Clinical Trials for Various Conditions
Both the main and sub-studies will investigate how consent forms and other health care documents are explained to patients. The findings will be used to create a computer program that can successfully explain consent and other health-related forms to individuals who have difficulty reading and understanding consent forms on their own as a supplement to the normal consent process done in research settings.
Anticholinergic medication is used to treat overactive bladder (OAB). A known side effect of this medication is cognitive dysfunction. OAB is more prevalent in the elderly population - a group that also has a higher baseline risk of cognitive dysfunction. Our objective is to evaluate the effect of an anticholinergic medication on cognitive function in elderly women.
The purpose of this study is to determine if the enhancement of electroencephalographic (EEG) slow-wave activity using transcranial electrical stimulation (TES) at Slow Oscillation (SO) frequency, during a restricted period of nocturnal sleep, enhances the restorative properties of that period of sleep and improves performance during a subsequent period of sleep deprivation.
The purpose of this study is: 1) to assess pediatric resident knowledge of adolescent mental health; 2) to assess pediatric resident comfort level for screening, assessing, and treating mental health disorders in adolescents, and; 3) to evaluate pediatric resident current practices for adolescent mental health screening, assessment, and treatment.
The overall goal of this project is to design, implement, and revise the Core Competency Model for Corrections (CCM-C), an evidence-based Self-Directed Violence (SDV) prevention training program for correctional mental health providers in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (DAC). The proposed specific aims are: Aim 1: To create the CCM-C training program. Aim 2: To assess preliminary training effectiveness. Aim 3: To gather training program quality improvement feedback from corrections stakeholders.
