Phase 1/2 Study to Determine Optimal Dose for Treating Bone Metastases Using Novel STAT-RT Workflow
Description

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an experimental procedure called Focused Radiation that may result in a faster way to plan and deliver radiation for the treatment of pain caused by metastatic bone tumors (cancerous tumors that originally came from another organ and have spread to bones). In this trial a single fraction of radiation will be given from 8-15 Gray.

Compassionate Same-Day Evaluation & Delivery of XRT for Bony Metastasis in Hospice Patients
Description

This is a survey study to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of an affordable, $400 flat rate, same-day consultation, simulation, and delivery of a single fraction of palliative radiation therapy for patients with symptomatic bony metastatic disease who are currently enrolled in hospice. Treatment planning and delivery of palliative radiotherapy will utilize "standard of care" techniques.

Treatment With Zoledronic Acid in Patients With Breast Cancer, Multiple Myeloma, and Prostate Cancer With Cancer Related Bone Lesions
Description

Patients with bone metastases or bone lesions caused by breast cancer, multiple myeloma or prostate cancer will be treated with IV Zometa in a 15 minute infusion. Pain will be evaluated, as well as time in chair, quality of life and safety of Zometa.

Metastatic Spinal Bone Marrow Response to Radiation Therapy Using T1 Weighted Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Perfusion
Description

The purpose of this study is to assess imaging methods including Dynamic Contrast Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and perfusion for the cancer that has spread to the spine. The study aims to see if using these methods will help better see response to treatment with radiation in patients with spine metastases from any solid cancer.

Study Using High-Dose Single Fraction Image-Guided Radiotherapy for Metastatic Lesions to Soft Tissue Masses, Lymph Node, or Bone
Description

The purpose of this research study is to find out what IG-IMRT radiation dose works best for treatment of disease in bone or soft tissues. This protocol will study what dose level may work most effectively. The first part of study will treat 10 patients with 22 Gray. Gray (Gy) is the unit that is used to describe the dose of radiation that is being given to a person with cancer. After we confirm that 22 Gy is a safe and sufficient amount of radiation, we will then treat another group of patients with 24 Gy and so on until we reach 28 Gy. Each dose level starting with 24 Gy will enroll at least 20 patients per treatment site (bone, bowel and/or spine). Patients will be enrolled in each treatment category until 20 patients in each strata reach an evaluable time point of 3 months post-RT. When we understand what dose works best and has the least amount of bad effects, the study will then look to see how well the patients do after the radiation therapy. This study is trying to see how your doctor can best treat the cancer that has spread to the other parts of your body.

Investigation of Changes in Bone Scan Imaging Before and After Intravenous Bisphosphonate Therapy for Osseous Metastases From Breast Cancer
Description

The purpose of this study is to examine for changes in the bone scan after treating with zoledronic acid (Zometa™). This study is designed to show if intravenous (IV) bisphosphonates, which are infused by vein, such as pamidronate (Aredia™) or zoledronic acid (Zometa™), cause changes in the result of bone scans in women with metastatic breast cancer. Both bone scans and the IV bisphosphonates are components of routine care of women with breast cancer that has spread to the bone.
