A Study to Assess the Impact of Omalizumab on Exercise Capacity, Physical Activity, and Sleep Quality in Participants With Moderate to Severe Allergic Asthma
Description

This study will assess the effect of omalizumab on exercise capacity, physical activity, and sleep quality after 24 weeks of treatment in participants with moderate to severe allergic asthma. Exercise capacity will be assessed using cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). Physical activity and sleep quality will be assessed with a wearable physical activity and sleep monitor. The study will consist of a 4-week screening period, a 24-week treatment period, and a 4-week safety follow-up. Approximately 60 participants will be enrolled, and omalizumab will be dosed according to the approved United States Package Insert (USPI) dosing table.

CYT003-QbG10, a TLR9-agonist, for Treatment of Uncontrolled Moderate to Severe Allergic Asthma
Description

The purpose of this study is to assess the therapeutic potential and safety/tolerability of study drug (CYT003) at 3 dose levels versus placebo in patients with persistent moderate to severe allergic asthma not sufficiently controlled on current standard controller therapy. Altogether 360 patients randomized to 4 treatment groups will be included. The study compares three dose strength with placebo. Each patient receives 7 injections of study drug or undistinguishable placebo. Key outcome measures are patient reported parameters on their asthma.

Description

This study aims to investigate the effect of omalizumab on the number of tissue eosinophils and other markers of airway inflammation and remodeling, including thickness of the lamina reticularis, in moderate to severe asthmatics with persistent symptoms and evidence of airway inflammation despite treatment with inhaled corticosteroids and long acting beta-agonists. This study will also investigate the correlation between systemic and pulmonary inflammation, and the correlation between clinical outcomes and changes within the tissue, to assist in the future identification of patients with tissue eosinophilia and their response to treatment, without the need for invasive bronchoscopy.

Description

A substance called immunoglobulin E (IgE), which is naturally produced by our body, has a key role in generating asthma attacks. In patients with allergies, there is an exaggerated production of IgE in response to specific substances such as pollens. Omalizumab is a new drug that inactivates IgE. This study tested the safety and efficacy of omalizumab against asthma attacks in children with allergic asthma.
