Strategies for Coping With Negative Thoughts
Description

The primary objective of this study is to assess the impact of two strategies for coping with negative automatic thoughts (positive thinking and cognitive restructuring) on one's belief in negative thoughts and one's affect. Another main objective is to assess whether participating in a positive mood induction (versus no mood induction) prior to using one of the two coping strategies impacts belief in negative thoughts and affect. We will also explore the interaction between strategy condition and mood induction condition. As secondary outcomes, we will evaluate whether there are changes in positive thinking skills and cognitive restructuring skills and depressive symptoms after one week of using the strategy.

How Body Awareness Promotes Mental Health During Yoga and Physical Exercise
Description

The integrity of interoceptive networks is linked to resilience against depressive symptoms, whereas degradation of these networks is linked to apathy and deficits in emotion processing. The goal of this study is to compare two major styles of yoga and cardiovascular exercise through a 10-week training program to promote interoceptive awareness. The researchers hypothesize that improvement in affective symptomatology will be correlated with better interoceptive development. Changes in mood related symptoms and interoception will be assessed at baseline, week 12 and week 14, in a cohort of adults aged 18-55.

Guided Imagery Training and Self-Referential Processing
Description

The purpose of this study is to examine the efficacy of a guided imagery paradigm for reducing negative ways of thinking about the self. There will be at least 60 participants enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin. Participants will be randomly selected to receive one of two types of trainings, each over the course of two weeks. Participants will undergo the training exercises at home. The training exercises will help them to think differently about themselves. Participants will be able to determine if they are eligible, and then participate, by filling out a screening questionnaire online.

Testing if Reductions in Negative Affect Yield Decreased Emotional Eating Symptoms
Description

The purpose of this study to test a computerized treatment designed to help people with high levels of emotional eating, which is when people eat to cope with negative emotions and/or stressful situations. The investigators are interested in comparing two different ways of coping with negative emotions, relaxation training or training in how to think differently about such situations. Additionally, the researchers' study seeks to understand more about the psychological factors that may contribute to someone having difficulty with emotional eating.

Food for Thought - a Nutrition Intervention for Women Undergoing Active Treatment for Triple Negative Breast Cancer
Description

The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to learn if a healthy eating pattern called the MIND eating plan can reduce cancer-related cognitive impairment (commonly called "chemobrain") and other symptoms commonly experienced by women with newly diagnosed stage II-III triple negative breast cancer as they go through chemotherapy. The symptoms that will be measured include changes in memory and mental function, fatigue, sleep quality, anxiety, and depression. Researchers will compare measures from women in the 12-week MIND eating plan virtual intervention to a general health coaching (GHC) virtual intervention to see if the MIND eating plan helps reduce symptoms. Women will be contacted for follow-up measures 6 months after the 12-week interventions. Women randomly assigned to the GHC at the beginning of the study will have the opportunity to complete the MIND intervention after the 6-month follow-up. All study sessions and measures are done remotely. Participants will: * Be randomized to MIND or GHC interventions * Complete all study measures remotely (by online questionnaires, virtual visits and mail ) * Attend 8 virtual sessions of about 15-60 minutes each over 12 weeks * Be sent some of the key foods in the MIND eating plan during the MIND intervention * Be contacted for follow-up measures 6 months after interventions
