The overall objective of this study is to assess patterns of fMRI cortical activation with spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in patients with neuropathic leg pain and therefore define cortical correlates, as well as to investigate cortical representations of pain and pain relief and the interactions therein, in the setting of neuropathic leg pain and SCS.
The primary objective of this study is to compare the efficacy and patient preference for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) using the Precision device with the electrode array placed at T7 versus placement at T8. Eligible patients will have chronic intractable pain in the back or lower extremities and will have independently elected SCS as the next line of therapy. There is some anecdotal evidence that the coverage of the paresthesia resulting from T7 placement is preferable to that obtained by the more commonly used T8 placement but there has been no study to support this observation.
The overall goal of this proposed study is to evaluate the underlying mechanisms of neural control of blood flow in the lower extremities in humans with restless leg syndrome (RLS). At least 15% of the general public suffers from RLS and many more may go undiagnosed. This unfortunate disorder leads primarily to a disturbing sensation within the patient's lower extremities that requires movement for relief (1, 2). The central hypothesis of our study is that physiological changes in lower limb blood flow as a result of thoracolumbar epidural Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) lead to the relief of RLS.
The objective of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of an investigational drug, V3381, for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathic (DPN) pain (pain in one's feet and legs, or even in one's hands and arms, sometimes experienced by people with diabetes). An investigational drug is one that is not approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and/or Health Canada.
