4 Clinical Trials for Various Conditions
This project will be the first to examine the efficacy of a text messaging intervention designed to recruit first-time fathers-to-be using social media across the U.S. to become involved during pregnancy through two months of postnatal age to support infant, mother, and father well-being.
This study evaluates the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of Text4Father among first-time lower income fathers. Half of the participants will receive Text4Father - a text messaging educational program - from mid-pregnancy through 2 months of postnatal age, while the other half will receive usual care.
This nationwide study will create a DNA collection to permit qualified scientists to search for depression-related genes. More than 750 families with at least two siblings who have experienced major depression are needed for the study. Participants will be interviewed about psychiatric and family history, and will be asked to provide a small blood specimen. The identification of predisposing genes can lead to greater understanding of the brain mechanisms involved in severe depression which can in turn lead to the discovery of new treatments. A Certificate of Confidentiality from the federal government ensures that all information will be strictly confidential. Blood specimens are identified only by code number (not by name). Reimbursement is provided.
This study involves study participants who have been clinically diagnosed with parkinsonian syndrome or who are at-risk for parkinsonian syndrome, have a family history of parkinsonian syndrome or exposure to environmental toxins potentially associated with parkinsonian syndrome. Participants will have brain imaging to assess dopamine transporter density. The imaging data coupled with family history and environmental exposure data may provide important information about potential risk factors for parkinsonian syndrome.
