Adipose-Derived Biocellular Regenerative Therapy for Osteoarthritis
Description

Use of Biocellular and cellular approaches to treatment of Osteoarthritis (OA), musculoskeletal aging processes, pain, and degenerative changes are to be studied with minimally invasive protocols, and non-pharmaceutical means to relieve OA and its associated issues. Traditional surgical interventions have not yielded convincing long-term outcomes, including total joint replacement surgeries and medical management of the supportive structures. This study is to use a person's own stem/stromal Cells (autologous) plus HD-PRP (important healing growth factors and signal molecules) in such cases of OA for long-term minimally invasive treatments. Baseline (existing) findings are documented, and thence tracked as to progress deemed to be result of the intervention.

Botulism Toxin Injection as a Treatment for Arthritis of the Basal Thumb Joint
Description

Basal arthritis of the thumb is a common condition with increased prevalence in post-menopausal women, obese persons, and the elderly. Surgical options are varied and efficacious, but not all patients are candidates for surgery. The successes and pitfalls of previous, similar trials are carefully considered in the creation of our own. Though steroid injection is the standard of care in basal joint arthritis, current data does not support its efficacy beyond placebo effect. No trial has yet examined the efficacy of botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) injection into the basal thumb joint nor compared it to steroid. Since efficacy of steroid is questionable at best, our hope is that BTX-A injection of the basal joint might be the next great tool in treating this common, debilitating disease.

COMPLETED
Efficacy and Safety Study of Intra-articular Multiple Doses of Icatibant in Patients With Painful Knee Osteoarthritis
Description

The primary objective is to compare the overall treatment effect on pain relief between icatibant and placebo. The secondary objectives are to assess the efficacy of icatibant in term of onset, extent and duration of pain relief relative to triamcinolone, to evaluate the safety of icatibant, to evaluate overall conditions of daily life after treatment with icatibant, to assess systemic exposure of icatibant following intra-articular injection.

A Multi-Centre Study in Patients Undergoing Total Hip Arthroplasty With the Smith+Nephew CATALYSTEM™ Primary Hip System
Description

A Multi-Center Study in Patients Undergoing Total Hip Arthroplasty with the Smith+Nephew CATALYSTEM™ Primary Hip System. The purpose of the study is to assess safety and performance of the CATALYSTEM™ and to support product approval in global markets.

RECRUITING
Multi-Vendor Multi-Site Novel Accelerated MRI Relaxometry
Description

Currently the diagnosis of OA is based on radiographs and clinical findings, which is limited to detecting late-stage disease. There is a pressing, unmet clinical need for robust assessment of early changes in cartilage health. Towards this goal, extensive efforts are ongoing to develop quantitative MRI for cartilage matrix analysis. MR T1ρ and T2 relaxation times have shown to be promising imaging biomarkers for early cartilage degeneration and prediction of disease progression. However, many challenges remain to clinically applying these techniques, including lack of standardized acquisition and quantification methods, and long acquisition times. The study aims to develop novel, fast and reproducible MR T1ρ and T2 relaxation time imaging methods on MR systems from multiple vendors and establish a platform for standardization and cross validation of these measures as a tool for clinical trials using such techniques. Following method validation, patients at risk for osteoarthritis will be tested.

UNKNOWN
Multi-Site, Post-Market Study of the ICONACY I-Hip System
Description

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use and efficacy of the I-Hip for primary total hip replacement surgery.

COMPLETED
Multi-Center Comparative Trial of the ASR™-XL Acetabular Cup System vs. the Pinnacle™ Metal- on- Metal Total Hip System
Description

The primary objective of this investigation is to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes of the ASR™-XL Acetabular Cup System compared to the Pinnacle™ Acetabular Cup with a 28mm or 36mm ULTAMET™ metal insert.
