This trial will comprehensively evaluate the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in cancer survivors between 9 and 26 years of age by (1) determining the prevalence of HPV vaccine initiation among young cancer survivors, and (2) determining the immune response to and safety/tolerability of the quadrivalent and nonavalent HPV vaccine in young cancer survivors.
This study will examine the feasibility and acceptability of an innovative game-based intervention designed for families of youth aged 11-14 to promote HPV vaccination; will explore changes in key outcomes and related measures; and will identify factors contributing to or impeding effective implementation in health clinic settings. The intervention and its approach have the potential to reduce health disparities in HPV-associated cancers in youth via low-cost technology and timely intervention.
Poor quality of primary care providers' vaccine recommendations lead to low adolescent human papillomavirus vaccination rates and hundreds of thousands of adolescents unnecessarily at risk for HPV-associated cancers and diseases. Though a previous provider communication intervention, called PCOM, was found to be effective for increasing adolescent HPV vaccination in primary care, its dissemination is limited by the need for significant research team involvement to teach providers how to use the intervention's components. To address this, investigators propose to develop and test a virtual version of PCOM, use mixed methods to assess contextual factors affecting its use compared to the original PCOM intervention, and develop an optimized version of PCOM for broad dissemination to increase adolescent HPV vaccination nationally.
The overall goal of this SBIR Phase II project is to reduce cancer rates by marketing a brief, easily implemented technology-based intervention that increases human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among Planned Parenthood and other clients. The intervention's innovative technology allows for the investigators' narrative videos to be presented along will reminder texts. It will be evaluated for use in waiting rooms and promises to overcome vaccination barriers among high risk but underserved low SES and minority populations.
Community members ages 18 - 45 years old from the El Paso, Texas, U.S.-Mexico Border Region will be recruited to compare psychoeducational multimedia interventions focused on the human papillomavirus (HPV). Our hypothesis is that adults who view culturally tailored multimedia stories encouraging HPV vaccination will report higher vaccine uptake rates.
Healthcare providers (HCP) serving the El Paso U.S.-Mexico Border Region will be recruited to compare educational and professional skills interventions focused on the human papillomavirus (HPV). Our hypothesis is that improving provider knowledge and communication strategies about HPV and its vaccine will reduce hesitancy and increase uptake and completion among the populations they serve.
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a cause of cervical cancer in women. This study is being done to identify sites for cervical cancer screening and education regarding HPV vaccination outside of the traditional settings of primary care and gynecologic clinics. Identifying non-traditional cancer screening settings may increase cancer screening completion and HPV vaccination among women with limited health care knowledge and access who are vulnerable to health disparities.
This study will serve as one of the first to develop and test the effectiveness of strategies to promote HPV vaccination among diverse rural parents and caregivers of children ages 9-17 years in the Mountain West. Once implemented into practice, our intervention could significantly reduce disparities in the burden of HPV-associated cancers among rural populations in the United States. The proposed study will assess the effectiveness of clinic-based outreach to increase vaccination rates for HPV at four community clinics in rural counties in Washington. This study is a boot camp translation to tailor messaging based on patient and provider input The proposed study includes the following: (1) boot camp translation to tailor messaging based on patient and provider input; (2) PREVENT randomized controlled trial (RCT) that will assign adult parent/caregiver participants to a timeline for receiving intervention; and (3) qualitative interviews with parents/caregivers, providers, and other healthcare team members and development of best practices, implementation guides and dissemination of findings for other clinics to implement the program on a broader scale. At the end of the trial, personal interviews with parents/caregivers, clinical staff, and providers will be conducted to understand reactions to the program and persistent barriers to initiating and completing HPV vaccination.
This clinical trial evaluates the use of self-collected vaginal samples for human papillomavirus (HPV) testing in patients referred for a colposcopy and/or cervical excisional procedures to improve cervical cancer prevention. HPV is a common virus which usually causes infections that last only a few months, but sometimes can last longer. It is known to cause a variety of cancers including cancer of the cervix. Even though there are ways to detect cervical cancer early, many individuals do not undergo screening that involves pelvic exams. Over half of all new cervical cancer cases are among those who have either never been screened or who are not screened enough. Without appropriate screening and care, preventable pre-cancers may turn into cancer. A new way to detect cervical cancer is to have individuals collect their own vaginal sample for HPV testing to know their risk for cervical cancer. This may give individuals more flexibility and comfort having the ability to collect samples themselves, compared to a doctor performing a speculum examination and collecting the samples in a clinic. This study compares clinical accuracy of HPV testing on self-collected vaginal samples versus cervical samples collected by clinician. The Self-collection for HPV Testing to Improve Cervical Cancer Prevention (SHIP) Trial is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)'s Cervical Cancer 'Last Mile' Initiative, a public private partnership that seeks to increase access to cervical cancer screening. The SHIP Trial focuses on developing clinical evidence to inform the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s regulatory reviews of self-collection approaches as alternative sample collection approaches for cervical cancer screening. Several industry partner-specific self-collection device and assay combinations will be non-competitively and independently evaluated with a similar study design framework to inform pre-approval and/or post-approval regulatory requirements.

This study will refine intervention components and messages to increase HPV vaccination among rural children and adolescents (C/A). The research team will use a validated patient-engaged approach for parents/caregivers (P/Cs), Bootcamp Translation (BCT), with separate sessions conducted in English and Spanish.
The project aims to increase HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening through a web-based mobile health education program called, Wheel of Wellness (WoW) and a brief negotiated interview (BNI). The in-person BNI and WoW system will provide educational resources for participants and their families to learn more about HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening.
This randomized research trial studies the Community-based Health Information Technology (HIT) Tools for Cancer Screening and Health Insurance Promotion (CATCH-UP) intervention in increasing cancer screening and prevention care in uninsured patients at community health centers. The CATCH-UP intervention may contribute to increased rates of insurance coverage, leading to improved cancer screening and prevention rates in community health care settings, and general recommended preventive care.
Human Papilloma virus (HPV) are viruses that cause a common infection of the skin and genitals in men and women. Several types of HPV infection are transmitted by sexual activity and, in women, can infect the cervix (part of the uterus or womb). This infection often goes away by itself, but if it does not go away (this is called persistent infection), it can lead in women over a long period of time to cancer of the cervix. If a woman is not infected by HPV, it is very unlikely that she will get cervical cancer. This is an observer blind follow up study of the study HPV-001, which evaluated the ability of the HPV vaccine to prevent HPV infection. The current study invites all of the 1113 subjects in the HPV-001 study that received all three doses of vaccine/placebo to be enrolled and followed-up for several additional years to see if the HPV vaccine prevents HPV-16 and HPV-18 infections and to evaluate the safety of the vaccine. Subjects will remain in the same study group as in the primary study. No vaccine or placebo will be administered in this study. The overarching goal of this project is to implement Boot Camp Translation (BCT) methodology to translate the guidelines and evidence for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine into a practice and provider level intervention designed to improve its acceptability and uptake.
This randomized pilot trial studies how well a mobile health (mHealth) intervention works in increasing human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among college students at the Ohio State University. mHealth educational intervention may communicate information about HPV vaccination and increase HPV vaccine uptake in college students.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a different type of medical equipment called "High-Resolution Microendoscope" (HRME) for the diagnosis of cervical pre-cancerous lesions and cervical cancer. The investigators want to compare patients' clinical findings using the current equipment used in clinic with the clinical findings using new equipment we are testing on this research project. If the new equipment is proven to give comparable findings with current equipment being used, doctors might be able to offer a diagnosis and treat cervical lesions in one visit. It might not be necessary to wait for cervical biopsies to come back before women would receive the indicated treatment. Study subjects are being asked to participate because they have been diagnosed with an abnormal Papanicolaou (Pap) PAP smear, positive human papillomavirus (HPV) test or history of cervical dysplasia and need to have a colposcopic examination to determine the reason for abnormal results and receive treatment.
RATIONALE: Supplements, such as folic acid, may stop or delay the development of cervical cancer in women infected with human papillomavirus. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well folic acid supplements work in preventing cancer in women infected with human papillomavirus.
The objective of this study is to assess the use of and satisfaction with the ECA-HPV intervention over a 16-month period, its ability to increase HPV vaccination, and the comparative effectiveness of clinic notification and adolescent ECA components on these factors.
Parents use social media as an important parenting tool and source for health information. Using social media data to examine public opinion has had an early impact in public health and in cancer control and prevention efforts, including about the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. A next step in this area of research is to develop and share messages on social media with parents to help inform and educate them about the HPV vaccine - ultimately assisting them with their decision to vaccinate their child. This study will evaluate the efficacy of social media messages through Twitter, using a randomized controlled trial to determine what types of messages resonate with parents. The investigators will examine differences between two types of messages - narrative messages (i.e., stories) and non-narrative messages (i.e., numbers and facts).
Our project will assess the feasibility and estimate preliminary efficacy of a multilevel intervention to improve HPV vaccine series initiation among adolescents in Medicaid and CHIP. The investigators will use two intervention components: postcards and an iPad survey system. To estimate efficacy the investigators will select potential participants from Florida Medicaid and CHIP. The investigators will assess their claims for the HPV vaccine before and after the intervention.
Each year the human papillomavirus (HPV) causes 30,000 cancers in the United States despite the availability of very effective and safe vaccines. Uptake of the HPV vaccine has been disappointingly low and lags behind other adolescent vaccines. This study seeks to test interventions targeting health care system, provider, and patient factors to improve the population uptake of the HPV vaccine.
This study aims to answer the question: does 1-dose HPV vaccination generate the same immune responses compared to 2- or 3-dose HPV vaccination? This will be done by studying the immune response in blood, lymph nodes, and bone marrow. Human papillomaviruses (HPV) cause cancers (cervical, anal, oropharyngeal, vulvar, vaginal, and penile), and the current HPV vaccine is highly effective at preventing disease by HPV types that cause 90% of cancer cases. While this vaccine generates high levels of antibodies that last for \> 10 years, understanding of how this occurs is limited, and studying this immune response will help design new and better vaccines. The study population consists of healthy adult (age 18-45) participants who have not previously received an HPV vaccine, do not have antibodies against certain types of HPV, do not have a history of HPV infection or disease (such as genital warts, abnormal pap test, or HPV DNA test), and do not have contraindications to study procedures. Populations of increased concern are not being enrolled.
The purpose of this study is to increase early detection and prevention of breast and cervical cancer through education and navigation and to increase breast and cervical cancer screening and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in underserved Latinas.

Young adults aged 18-26 engage in a number of behaviors that increase their risk of developing cancer later in life including sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy eating, nicotine produce us, heavy drinking of alcohol, increased UV exposure, and incomplete uptake of HPV vaccination. A multi-risk factor campaign will be developed to reduce these cancer risk behaviors and delivered to young adults over social media, a popular channel that can reach nearly all young adults. The campaign will be evaluated for effectiveness in a rigorous randomized trial with measures of moderate to vigorous physical activity, healthy eating patterns, nicotine product use, alcohol intake, sunburn prevalence, and HPV vaccination uptake.
The proposed study will develop and test an implementation strategy called Salud en Mis Manos-Dissemination and Implementation Assistance (SEMM-DIA) which is an internet-accessible cross-platform that includes additional implementation support strategies to increase the reach, effectiveness, and implementation of an evidence-based breast and cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination program for Latinas (SEMM).
The goal of this study is to develop and pilot test an intervention, entitled Health is Wealth: A Cervical Health Program, designed to promote screening and reduce perceived barriers to Cervical Cancer (CC) screening. Aim 1: Examine general awareness and cultural factors (fatalism, religiosity/spirituality, temporal orientation, medical mistrust, and acculturation) related to cancer control and prevention among African Americans (AA) and Sub Saharan African (SAI) Immigrants. Aim 2: Examine the socioecological barriers and facilitators to CC screening and self-sampling to inform tailoring of an evidenced based cervical health program to promote CC screening. Aim 3: Assess feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy in a pilot test of the Health is Wealth: A Cervical Health Program among 30 AA and 30 SAI women using quasi-experimental design. This study will take place in 2 phases.
This study involves a partnership between UTHealth School of Public Health and the Texas 2-1-1 service, which is a helpline connecting low-income and minority callers with a number of needed services. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a prevention program in which a phone navigator intervention designed to connect 2-1-1 helpline callers to evidence-based screening and prevention services including mammography, Pap test screening, colorectal cancer screening, and HPV vaccination.
