Everolimus, Gemcitabine Hydrochloride, and Cisplatin in Treating Patients With Unresectable Solid Tumors Refractory to Standard Therapy
Description

This randomized phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of everolimus, gemcitabine hydrochloride, and cisplatin in treating patients with unresectable solid tumors refractory to standard therapy. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as everolimus, gemcitabine hydrochloride, and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more tumor cells.

Kanglaite Injection Phase I Study
Description

The Kanglaite Injection (KLT)is a novel broad spectrum anti-cancer injection produced from traditional Chinese medicinal herbs (the Coix Seed). It was approved in China in 1995 and has become the most popular anti-cancer drug in China. In June of 2001, the Phase I study of KLT commenced at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the objectives of 1) To determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and the safety profile of KLT in patients with refractory solid tumors; 2) To determine the pharmacokinetics of KLT in patients with refractory solid tumors; and 3) To gather preliminary efficacy data. The method of testing is open-label, sequential cohort, dose-escalation study.

Description

This is a an open-label, dose-escalation, first-in-man (FIM) study designed to explore MSC2156119J, in subjects with advanced solid tumors who have not responded to previous therapies or for whom no other therapies are available. Subjects will be assigned one of the dosing regimens: * Regimen 1: MSC2156119J once daily for 14 days, followed by 7 days with no treatment (21-day cycle) * Regimen 2: MSC2156119J three times per week (e.g., Days 1, 3, and 5) for three weeks (21-day cycle) * Regimen 3: MSC2156119J every day for three weeks (21-day cycle)

First-in-Man, Dose-escalation Trial of c-Met Kinase Inhibitor EMD 1204831 in Subjects With Advanced Solid Tumors
Description

EMD Serono has closed enrollment into this trial prior to determination of maximum tolerated dose (MTD). EMD Serono has decided not to pursue the development of EMD 1204831 in patients with advanced solid tumors for reasons other than safety.

Safety, Tolerability, PK, Anti-Tumor Activity of STP705 in Subjects With Advanced/Metastatic or Surgically Unresectable Solid Tumors Who Are Refractory to Standard Therapy
Description

This is an open label, dose escalation and dose expansion study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and anti-tumor activity of STP705 administered intratumorally in cholangiocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma or liver metastasis in subjects with advanced/metastatic or surgically unresectable solid tumors who are refractory to standard therapy. Goals: 1. To determine the MTD or RP2D of STP705 when administered intratumorally into cholangiocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, or liver metastasis. 2. To establish the dose of STP705 recommended for future phase 2 studies when administered intratumorally.

RNR Inhibitor COH29 in Treating Patients With Solid Tumors That Are Refractory to Standard Therapy or For Which No Standard Therapy Exists
Description

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of RNR Inhibitor City of Hope 29 (COH29) in treating patients with solid tumors that are refractory to standard therapy or for which no standard therapy exists. COH29 may inhibit an enzyme called ribonucleotide reductase and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow.

COMPLETED
A Study of Pharmacokinetic Drug Interaction Study of the Hedgehog Pathway Inhibitor GDC-0449 in Combination With Rosiglitazone or Combined Oral Contraceptive in Patients With Locally Advanced or Metastatic Solid Tumors That Are Refractory to Standard Therapy or for Whom No Standard Therapy Exists
Description

This is a single-arm, multicenter, Phase Ib study designed to describe the effect of GDC-0449 on the pharmacokinetics of rosiglitazone and oral contraceptives in patients with advanced solid tumors who are refractory to treatment or for whom no standard therapy exists.

UNKNOWN
Study of TBX-3400 in Subjects With Solid Malignant Tumors Resistant or Refractory to Standard Therapies
Description

This is a study of treatment with TBX-3400 in subjects with solid malignant tumors that are resistant or refractory to standard therapies. The subject's own blood cells are exposed to a protein that has been shown in the laboratory to result in anti-tumor activity. The study hypothesis is that TBX-3400 cells will enhance anti-tumor activity and improve the body's immune response to the tumor.

COMPLETED
Phase 1, Open-Label, Dose-Escalation Study of CP-870,893 in Patients With Solid Tumors
Description

CD40, a member of the Tumor Necrosis Factor receptor superfamily, is expressed on many tumor types, including melanoma, prostate, colon, breast, renal, pancreatic, and nonsmall cell lung cancers. In preclinical models, activation of CD40 results in increased antigen presentation and induction of apoptosis. CD40 is also expressed on antigen presenting cells (APCs) (B cells, dendritic cells, monocytes) and is a key regulator of both cellular and humoral immune responses. Activation of CD40 by CP-870,893, an agonistic anti-CD40 monoclonal antibody, enhances host immune responses and abrogates the growth of tumors independently of the expression of CD40 on tumor cells. Therefore, it is hypothesized that therapeutic intervention with CP-870,893 may be beneficial to a large number of cancer patients either through an immunomodulatory effect or through a direct effect on CD40-positive tumor cells.

COMPLETED
Study to Assess the Safety of Escalating Doses of AT13387 in Patients With Metastatic Solid Tumors
Description

AT13387/0001 is a dose-finding study of an experimental anticancer agent. In accordance with the protocol increasing doses of AT13387 are given to patients with advanced cancer who do not have alternative treatment options. The preferred dose of AT13387 will be identified according to the side effects experienced at different dose levels.

A Phase I Dose Escalation Study of Oral SB939 Administered Alone or With Azacitidine
Description

This is an open label, dose escalation study with 3 arms (Arms A, B, and C). Arm A will assess the safety and tolerability of escalating doses of SB939 in cohorts of patients with advanced solid tumors. Arm B will assess the safety and tolerability of escalating doses in cohorts of patients with advanced hematologic malignancies. Arm C will assess the safety and tolerability of SB939 in combination with standard azacitidine therapy.

COMPLETED
Pazopanib and Everolimus in PI3KCA Mutation Positive/PTEN Loss Patients
Description

The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest tolerable dose of the combination of Votrient (pazopanib) and Afinitor (everolimus) that can be given to patients with advanced cancer. The safety of these drugs will also be studied. Pazopanib is designed to block different receptors in the cancer cells that ultimately are responsible for the growth of the tumor and its blood vessels. Everolimus is designed to block a protein called mTOR inside the cancer cells, which is also involved in cancer growth.

Opioid Titration Order Sheet or Standard Care in Treating Patients With Cancer Pain
Description

RATIONALE: An Opioid Titration Order Sheet that allows healthcare providers to adjust the dose and schedule of pain medication may help improve pain treatment for patients with cancer. It is not yet known whether the use of an Opioid Titration Order Sheet is more effective than standard care in treating pain caused by cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying an Opioid Titration Order Sheet to see how well it works compared with standard care in treating patients with cancer pain.
