This study investigates the medical and psychosocial consequences of colorectal cancer on adolescents and young adults. Measuring physical function in adolescents and young adults with colorectal cancer may help doctors better understand the level of physical function during cancer treatment and how to improve the management of colorectal cancer in adolescents and young adults. This study may also help design a future exercise program to decrease risk factors including high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol.
This study investigates if circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and other tumor-related molecules/chemicals released in the blood can help doctors predict if colorectal cancer may come back or spread. Tumors shed DNA and other cancer related chemicals into the blood that can be identified and studied further to provide information about the cancer. Information gathered from this study may help researchers better understand if ctDNA found in the blood can predict whether colorectal cancer may come back or spread.
This pilot trial evaluates the feasibility of a group diet education program for stage I-IV colorectal cancer survivors. Providing a nutrition education program for colon and rectal cancer survivors may help them have better access to the tools necessary to make healthy food decisions that can impact their cancer outcomes.
This phase III trial studies how well a telehealth self-management program works in improving survivorship care and outcomes in stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer or colorectal cancer survivors. Survivor self-management program focuses on coaching patients on follow-up care after cancer treatments. Participating in the program may improve knowledge and confidence about follow-up care, communication with cancer care and primary care doctors, and quality of life after cancer treatment in non-small cell lung cancer or colorectal cancer survivors.
This phase I/II trial studies how well patient portal and navigation program work in providing information for Asian American cancer patients. Patient portal and navigation program may help to improve the care provided to Asian American cancer patients.This study is offered in the following languages in addition to English: Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) and Vietnamese.
This phase II trial studies the how well linaclotide works in treating patients with stages 0-3 colorectal cancer. Linaclotide is a very small protein that binds to receptors on intestinal cells and makes them secrete water and salt.
This phase II, randomized pilot trial studies the effect of the consumption of foods made with resistant starch compared to foods made with corn starch on biomarkers that may be related to colorectal cancer progression in stage I-III colorectal cancer survivors. Foods made with resistant starch may beneficially influence markers of inflammation, insulin resistance, and the composition of gut bacteria in colorectal cancer survivors.
This pilot trial studies how well systems support mapping works in guiding self-management in stage I-III colorectal cancer survivors. Systems support mapping helps participants to see complex self-management activities on paper, which makes them more actionable. Behavioral interventions, such as systems support mapping, may help colorectal cancer survivors facilitate self-awareness, create motivation for behavior change, and guide self-management.
This trial tests new methods and materials for the real-time chemotherapy-associated side effects monitoring support system (RT-CAMSS) in patients with gastrointestinal cancers undergoing chemotherapy. RT-CAMSS is a monitoring support system that provides patients with evidence-based information and side-effect management and coping skills, emotional support and validation, and proactive care via text messages and questionnaires as they undergo chemotherapy.
This study compares the outcomes and safety of two standard treatment options called microwave ablation and surgical wedge resection in patients with non-small cell lung cancer, sarcoma and colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic). Microwave ablation is designed to kill tumor cells by heating the tumor until the tumor cells die. A wedge resection is a procedure that involves the surgical removal of a small, wedge-shaped piece of lung tissue to remove a small tumor or to diagnose lung cancer. Comparing these two treatment options may help researchers learn which method works better for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, metastatic sarcoma, and metastatic colorectal cancer.
This phase IIA trial investigates the side effects of Ad5.F35-hGCC-PADRE vaccine and to see how well it works in treating patients with gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma. Ad5.F35-hGCC-PADRE vaccine may help to train the patient's own immune system to identify and kill tumor cells and prevent it from coming back.
This study examines at-home monitoring of patient-generated phsyiologic health data and patient-reported outcomes. Patient-generated health data using at-home monitoring devices and smart device applications are used more and more to measure value and quality in cancer care. This trial may show whether at-home monitoring programs can improve the care of patients after hospital discharge from surgery.
