6 Clinical Trials for Various Conditions
The purpose of the study is to investigate the IOP difference between normal and glaucomatous eyes using standard ophthalmic tonometry devices while subjects are performing different standard yoga asanas. The IOP of participants will be measured prior, immediately at start of the asana, 2 minutes into the asana, and immediately after assuming a sitting position. The patient will wait 10 minutes and a final IOP will be taken. Four standard yoga asanas will be tested.
Older individuals, 60-90, will be provided regular or cognitively based yoga training. They will then be evaluated using standard cognitive testing devices.
This is a phase II 2-arm randomized controlled trial comparing yoga (Yoga for Cancer Survivors, YOCAS©®) to standard care in reducing cancer-related fatigue in Hispanic cancer survivors. Survivors randomized to Arm 1 will receive Standard Care and Arm 2 will receive standard care plus a four-week YOCAS©® intervention where Hispanic survivors attend yoga sessions together. Investigators will acquire preliminary data on cancer-related fatigue, as well as, secondary data on other common side effects.
This feasibility phase II randomized controlled trial examines the preliminary efficacy of our standardized four-week YOCAS©® (Yoga for Cancer Survivors) intervention that is delivered virtually on insomnia and sleep quality in cancer survivors. Insomnia can be described as excessive daytime napping, difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep, or waking up earlier than desired. The vast majority of patients with cancer experience some form of sleep impairment post-treatment. Yoga is safe, feasible, and effective for improving insomnia and sleep quality in cancer survivors. However, most of the yoga intervention was delivered in person. With the challenges and the social distancing regulation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting to virtual behavioral intervention is critically important and needed. Whether the yoga intervention delivered virtually to survivors provides a similar benefit of improving insomnia and sleep quality is unknown.
The purpose of this study is to determine if an N-of-1 study design, or within-subject trials that the investigators are calling "Personalized Trials" can improve health outcomes over standard practice for common stress management techniques. This study uses three different stress management interventions to improve individual self-report of perceived stress: guided mindfulness meditation, guided yoga, and guided brisk walking. Arm 1 (n=53) and Arm 2 (n=53) of the trial will deliver the interventions using a Personalized Trial (within-subject, single N, cross-over trial) format. Participants in Arm 3 of the trial (N=106) will be offered the same number of interventions but will not be required to follow the established N-of-1 Personalized Trials framework. At the end of their Personalized Trial, participants in Arms 1 and 2 will receive a summarized report with personalized feedback. Participants in Arm 3 will also receive a report, but with summarized data . Both arms will receive 2 additional weeks of the stress management intervention of their choosing, while continuing to answer daily assessments and wear a Fitbit device. At the end of the study, a final survey will be sent assessing satisfaction with the study.
The goal of this study is to explore the effects of a Mindfulness Based Couples Intervention on relationship satisfaction with quality of life and immune system function among breast cancer survivors and their partners.
