Single Case Research Design: Teacher Outcomes
Description

A training given to teachers will include reviewing the intervention manual, live modeling, and discussing intervention fidelity. The PI and a rater will use the Strategic and Interactive Signing Instruction. fidelity checklist to rate teacher faithfulness to each component of Strategic and Interactive Signing Instruction. across a session. Frequency and doses of additional training (e.g., coaching) will be documented in order to track procedures that effectively increase teacher faithfulness to implementation of Strategic and Interactive Signing Instruction.

Head Start Classroom-based Approaches and Resources for Emotion and Social Skill Promotion (Head Start CARES)
Description

The purpose of this study was to deepen the evidence base for interventions that support the social-emotional skills that underlie children's engagement and attention to learning tasks by schools (learning behaviors) and their social interactions with teachers and peers (social behaviors). The study tested three theoretically-distinct approaches to enhancing children's social-emotional development, along with a comprehensive coaching and training model, on a large scale within the Head Start system.

Quasi-Experimental Study: Strategic and Interactive Signing Instruction
Description

This quasi-experimental study involves teachers divided into an experimental group and a control group. Teachers in the experimental group will receive SISI training to support the sign language development of deaf children, while those in the control group will continue with "business-as-usual" teaching methods. Pre- and post-assessments will be conducted for all deaf children at the beginning and end of the school year.
