Self-Advocacy Serious Game in Advanced Cancer
Description

Self-advocacy, defined as the ability of a patient to get her needs and priorities met in the face of a challenge, is an essential skill but not all women with advanced cancer are able to do it. We want to instruct women with advanced cancer who have low self-advocacy to self-advocate for their health and well-being. We will test a new "serious game" or video program that teaches self-advocacy skills through interactive, situation-based activities. The goal of the Strong Together serious game is to engage participants in challenges commonly experienced by women with advanced cancer, offer them choices to self-advocate or not, and directly show them the health and social benefits of self-advocating and the negative consequences of not self-advocating. Through engaging in the Strong Together program, participants vicariously learn the essential skills of self-advocacy, understand the downstream effects of using or not using these skills, and learn distinct behaviors that they can then use to address their own challenges.

Radiation Therapy, Gemcitabine Hydrochloride, and Cisplatin in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced Squamous Cell Cancer of the Vulva
Description

This phase II trial studies how well radiation therapy works when given with gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin work in treating patients with squamous cell cancer of the vulva that has spread from where it started to nearby tissue or lymph nodes. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving radiation therapy together with gemcitabine hydrochloride and cisplatin may kill more tumor cells.

Description

This phase II trial is studying how well giving radiation therapy together with cisplatin followed by surgery works in treating patients with locally advanced cancer of the vulva. Drugs used in chemotherapy such as cisplatin use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Giving chemotherapy with radiation therapy before surgery may shrink the tumor so it can be removed during surgery.

e-Health Intervention (Day-by-Day) for the Management of Fear of Progression in Women With Stage III or IV Gynecologic Cancer: A Pilot Study
Description

This clinical trial studies how well an electronic (e)-health intervention (day-by-day) woks in managing fears or worries about cancer growing, spreading, or getting worse (progression) in patients with stage III or IV gynecologic cancer. Fear and worries about cancer progression or recurrence (coming back) are common concerns. This may contribute to concerns related to illness, worries, and uncertainty about the future. Day by Day is adapted from a program called "Conquer Fear" which was shown to benefit patients with early-stage cancer. Day-by-day intervention may help refocus patient thoughts and help patients learn skills to manage anxiety and fears.

Using Nivolumab Alone or With Cabozantinib to Prevent Mucosal Melanoma Return After Surgery
Description

This phase II trial tests whether nivolumab in combination with cabozantinib works in patients with mucosal melanoma. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Cabozantinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals tumor cells to multiply. This helps stop the spread of tumor cells. Giving nivolumab in combination with cabozantinib could prevent cancer from returning.

Sexual Health Counseling Intervention During Radiation Therapy in Improving Quality of Life for Women With Gynecologic Cancer
Description

This phase I trial studies a sexual health counseling intervention during radiation therapy in improving quality of life for women with gynecologic cancer. Women with gynecologic cancer often suffer long-term complications from treatment that can affect their physical and psychological well-being. An early sexual health counseling intervention prior to and after radiation may improve symptoms management and reduce the physical and psychological effects of treatment.

Nelfinavir, Cisplatin, and External Beam Radiation Therapy for the Treatment of Locally Advanced Vulvar Cancer That Cannot Be Removed by Surgery
Description

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of nelfinavir when given together with cisplatin and external beam radiation therapy in treating patients with vulvar cancer that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) and cannot be removed by surgery. Nelfinavir is an antiviral drug normally used to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high energy beams to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Giving nelfinavir, cisplatin, and external beam radiation therapy may work better than giving only cisplatin and external beam radiation therapy in treating patients with vulvar cancer.

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, Tremelimumab and Durvalumab in Treating Participants With Recurrent or Metastatic Cervical, Vaginal, or Vulvar Cancers
Description

This phase I trial studies how well stereotactic body radiation therapy works in combination with tremelimumab and durvalumab in treating participants with cervical, vaginal, or vulvar cancers that have come back (recurrent) or spread to other areas of the body (metastatic). Stereotactic body radiation therapy is a specialized radiation therapy that sends x-rays directly to the tumor using smaller doses over several days and may cause less damage to normal tissue. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as tremelimumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Durvalumab is a monoclonal antibody that may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving stereotactic body radiation therapy, tremelimumab, and durvalumab may work better in treating participants with cervical, vaginal, or vulvar cancers.

Nivolumab or Expectant Observation Following Ipilimumab, Nivolumab, and Surgery in Treating Patients With High Risk Localized, Locoregionally Advanced, or Recurrent Mucosal Melanoma
Description

This randomized phase II trial studies how well nivolumab or expectant observation following ipilimumab, nivolumab, and surgery work in treating patients with high-risk mucosal melanoma that is restricted to the site of origin without evidence of spread, has spread to a local and regional area of the body, or has come back. Monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab and ipilimumab, may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Sometimes the mucosal melanoma may not need more treatment until it progresses. In this case, observation may be sufficient. It is not known if nivolumab or expectant observation following ipilimumab, nivolumab, and surgery may be better in treating patients with mucosal melanoma.

Biospecimen Collection and Testing for the Prevalence of Anal Dysplasia and Anal Cancer in Patients with Cervical, Vaginal and Vulvar Dysplasia and Cancer
Description

This trial studies the prevalence of anal dysplasia and anal cancer in patients with cervical, vaginal, and vulvar dysplasia and cancer. Studying samples collected from patients in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about the human papillomavirus and how often anal cancer occurs in patients with cervix, vagina, or vulvar cancer.

Flexitouch® Home Maintenance Therapy or Standard Home Maintenance Therapy in Treating Patients With Lower-Extremity Lymphedema Caused by Treatment for Cervical Cancer, Vulvar Cancer, or Endometrial Cancer
Description

This randomized phase III trial is studying Flexitouch® home maintenance therapy to see how well it works compared with standard home maintenance therapy in treating patients with lower-extremity lymphedema caused by treatment for cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, or endometrial cancer. Flexitouch® home maintenance therapy may lessen lower-extremity lymphedema caused by treatment for gynecologic cancer. It is not yet known whether the Flexitouch® system is more effective than standard home maintenance therapy in treating lymphedema.

Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as 3-AP and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. 3-AP may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. 3-AP and cisplatin may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Giving 3-AP and external-beam radiation therapy together with cisplatin may kill more tumor cells. This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of 3-AP when given together with external-beam radiation therapy with or without cisplatin in treating patients with gynecologic cancer

This clinical trial studies lymphedema after surgery in patients with endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, or vulvar cancer. Topical Imiquimod in Treating Patients With Recurrent Paget's Disease of the Vulva
Description

RATIONALE: Biological therapies, such as imiquimod, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. Applying topical imiquimod to the vulva may be an effective treatment for recurrent Paget's disease. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well topical imiquimod works in treating patients with recurrent Paget's disease of the vulva.

Fibrin Sealant in Decreasing Lymphedema Following Surgery to Remove Lymph Nodes in Patients With Cancer of the Vulva
Description

RATIONALE: Fibrin sealant may decrease lymphedema following surgery to remove lymph nodes in the groin by helping to seal the lymphatic vessels. It is not yet known if fibrin sealant is effective in decreasing lymphedema following surgery to remove lymph nodes. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of fibrin sealant in reducing lymphedema following surgical removal of lymph nodes in patients who have cancer of the vulva.

Description

RATIONALE: MS-275 may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of MS-275 in treating patients with advanced solid tumors or lymphoma.

RATIONALE: Vaccines made from certain human papillomaviruses may be able to help the body to kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of human papillomavirus vaccine therapy in treating patients who have advanced or recurrent cancer of the cervix, vagina, penis, anus, esophagus, or head and neck.

Trastuzumab Plus R115777 in Treating Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Cancer
Description

Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of trastuzumab plus R115777 in treating patients who have advanced or metastatic cancer. Monoclonal antibodies such as trastuzumab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining trastuzumab with R115777 may kill more tumor cells.

Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Unresectable, Residual, or Recurrent Colorectal Cancer
Description

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs such as capecitabine may make the tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of capecitabine in combination with radiation therapy in treating patients who have unresectable, residual, or recurrent colorectal cancer located in the pelvis.

Description

Interleukin-12 may kill tumor cells by stopping blood flow to the tumor and by stimulating a person's white blood cells to kill cancer cells. Monoclonal antibodies such as trastuzumab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of interleukin-12 and trastuzumab in treating patients who have cancer that has high levels of HER2/neu and has not responded to previous therapy

RATIONALE: VEGF Trap may stop the growth of solid tumors or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma by stopping blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of intravenous VEGF Trap in treating patients with relapsed or refractory advanced solid tumors or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

RATIONALE: Studying protein expression in sentinel lymph node tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors identify and learn more about biomarkers related to cancer. It may also help the study of cancer in the future. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is evaluating OX-40 protein expression in the sentinel lymph nodes of patients with cancer.
