Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI) in Children With No Cochleae or Auditory Nerves

This study is a feasibility study of the Nucleus 24 ABI in children without NF2. It will be conducted as a repeated-measures, single subject experiment in order to accommodate the known variability in cochlear implant clinical results. Data obtained in the course of this study will be compared with the existing published outcome data from children with normal hearing and with cochlear implants (CIs). These comparisons may provide additional useful information about the progress of ABI subjects' performance over time. Also, this may allow the results of the current study to be utilized to design future pivotal studies of the device in the pediatric population.

Improving Physical Ability and Cellular Senescence Elimination in HIV

This clinical trial is a Phase II study designed to test the safety and effectiveness of a combination of dasatinib and quercetin (D+Q) in improving physical function for people with HIV who are frail or prefrail. The study will involve 80 participants, all aged 50 or older, who have been living with HIV for at least 10 years determined to meet criteria for diagnosis of frail or prefrail and are currently on a stable antiretroviral therapy with viral suppression. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will receive the D+Q treatment, and the other will receive a placebo. The treatment will be given in six cycles over 12 weeks, with participants taking the medication for two days followed by 12 days without treatment. After the 12-week treatment period, participants will be monitored for another 12 weeks to assess the long-term effects. The study aims to determine if D+Q can improve physical function and other health outcomes in this population. Randomization will be stratified by sex and age to ensure balanced groups.

Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Virtual Reality (VR) for Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Upper-Limb Rehabilitation

Acquired brain injury (ABI) individuals have shown greater engagement and functional recovery when trained in virtual reality (VR)-assisted rehabilitation therapies. After developing an activities of daily living (ADL)-focused VR system in a prior study, this related follow-up study aims to test the efficacy and impact of this VR system on upper-limb rehabilitation outcomes of ABI individuals when routinely integrated into treatment plans.

An Open-label Study of JSB462 (Luxdegalutamide) in Combination With Abiraterone in Adult Male Patients With Metastatic Hormone-sensitive Prostate Cancer (mHSPC)

This Phase II study aims to evaluate efficacy and safety of the combination of JSB462 (also known as luxdegalutamide) at 100 mg and 300 mg once a day (QD) doses + abiraterone compared with an androgen receptor pathway inhibitor (ARPI, abiraterone or enzalutamide) in participants with metastatic Hormone Sensitive Prostate Cancer (mHSPC) and to select the recommended dose of the combination for phase III. Towards that end, the totality of the efficacy, safety, tolerability and PK data from participants randomized in the study will be evaluated

Effects of Asymmetries on Binaural-Hearing Abilities Across the Lifespan

Binaural hearing involves combining auditory information across the ears. With binaural hearing, listeners benefit from perceiving sounds from different spatial locations. This is critical in solving the "cocktail party problem" (i.e., understanding speech in the presence of competing background sounds and noise). As humans get older, hearing loss increases, binaural abilities decrease, and the cocktail party problem becomes increasingly difficult. This research studies the mechanisms underlying the impact of age and hearing loss on speech-perception in noise and cocktail-party listening situations. More specifically, the role of hearing asymmetries between the ears is investigated. The specific aims are to generate an audiological and binaural-hearing-focused dataset for a large cohort of participants that vary in hearing asymmetry, age, and hearing loss and to use machine learning to uncover complex associations and generate novel hypotheses relating audiometric variables and basic binaural-hearing abilities to the cocktail-party problem. Participants in this research will complete perceptual measures of hearing acuity and spatial hearing. Participants will also report on speech understanding under noisy and challenging listening conditions. This research may lead to improvements in audiological care and hearing interventions.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration Benchmark Imaging Dataset (ABID)

1000 participants from up to 25 international locations who are at least 50 years old with either healthy eyes or a diagnosis of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) will be consented to provide images of their eyes for a new dataset. This dataset is an important step in developing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based screening tool for AMD.

AMIE's Clinical Conversational Abilities in an Urgent Care Setting

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) system to have a meaningful clinical conversation with a patient prior to an urgent care visit with their primary care physician. In this study, patients who are seeking an urgent care visit (that is, any type of medical visit with their primary care provider for a new complaint) will first have a conversation with an AI system. This interaction with the AI system will happen less than a week before their visit with their physician, and will be supervised by an independent physician who will interrupt in case there are any concerns about patient safety. After the interaction, a summary of the conversation will be sent to the patient's PCP, who will review prior to the in-person visit. The researchers will investigate: * Patient views on the AI system * PCP views on the AI system * Overall safety, as measured by the physician safety supervisor * Quality of clinical conversations, measured by standardized rubrics * Quality of diagnostic and management plans generated by the AI; these will not be shared with the patient or physician, but will be generated after the fact and compared with the actual diagnosis and management plan.

A Study of Talazoparib With or Without Enzalutamide in People With Prostate Cancer Who Have Previously Received Abiraterone Acetate

The purpose of this study is to find out whether talazoparib in combination with enzalutamide or talazoparib alone delays cancer progression in people with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) who have homologous recombination repair (HRR) mutations and have previously received abiraterone acetate.
