Efficacy of Methylprednisolone for Pain Control After ACL Repair: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Opioids are commonly used after orthopedic surgery for pain control but have been shown to increase complications, surgeries, readmissions, and risk for opioid use disorder. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of adding a methylprednisolone taper to the pain regimen after ACL repair surgery to determine if this results in decreased postoperative pain and opioid use without increasing complications.

Post-stroke Pain tAN-fMRI

The purpose of this study is to explore whether 4 weeks of at-home transcutaneous auricular neurostimulation (tAN) can reduce chronic pain after a stroke. Investigators will recruit up to 24 participants with chronic post-stroke upper extremity pain. The goal is to determine if there is a pain reduction after ear stimulation.

Psilocybin as a Treatment for Chronic Pain in Smokers

The purpose of this study is to understand whether psilocybin therapy is safe and well tolerated in improving chronic pain and increasing motivation to quit smoking for people who have chronic pain and smoke cigarettes. Psilocybin is a psychedelic drug and the active ingredient in "magic mushrooms." Psilocybin is currently being studied in clinical trials but has no current medical use in the United States. Some studies have shown that a dose of psilocybin can help people quit smoking. Other studies have shown that a dose of psilocybin may improve certain chronic pain conditions, such as migraine headaches. We believe that it may also be helpful for people who smoke and have chronic pain, but this has not been tested yet.

TMS-EEG Biomarkers for Chronic Pain

In this study the investigators aim to assess the correlates of neurophysiological measures (measurement of brain magnetically evoked response) using DELPHI system. The DELPHI system device is a computerized, electromechanical medical device that produces and delivers non-invasive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) fields to induce electrical currents directed at regions of the cerebral cortex and records the resultant Electroencephalogram (EEG) brain electrophysiological response. DELPHI analyzes the TMS Evoked Potential (TEP) and produces quantitative output measures. Objectives include: * To use TMS-evoked EEG measures of brain function in patients with chronic pain using the QuantalX DELPHI system to predict patient specific pain diagnoses using machine learning classification methods. * To evaluate longitudinal associations between TMS-evoked EEG measures and ratings of chronic pain. * To monitor associations between TMS-evoked EEG biomarkers and therapy success for three different classes of medications.

Pain Intervention With Needling: Pilot Of Integrated Neuromodulation Techniques

The study's purpose is to determine the effects of three different dry needling sessions on pain and quality of life for those with chronic low back pain. Dry needling is a therapeutic procedure in which a very thin, monofilament needle is inserted through the skin to reach a target tissue like a muscle to help reduce pain, improve muscle activation, and increase blood flow. Dry needling has also been shown to improve nervous system function.

Oklahoma Study of Native American Pain Risk IV: Smoking Cessation and Pain

The goal of this pilot study is to assess whether 4-weeks of verified smoking abstinence following financial incentive treatment for smoking cessation improves physiological markers of chronic pain risk in adult Native American smokers. The main aims to answer are: 1. Determine study feasibility. 2. Obtain effect sizes for changes in pain amplification and pain inhibition in abstinent vs non-abstinent Native Americans. 3. Obtain effect sizes for variables in the conceptual model of the Native American smoking-pain relationship.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) for Intrauterine Device (IUD) Insertion Pain

This study is a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial to evaluate the use of high frequency TENS for pain control during IUD insertion. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a relatively low-cost, low-risk, non-pharmacologic intervention for pain management. Previous studies have found that TENS reduces pain associated with other outpatient gynecological procedures. Participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to either active treatment or placebo (placebo TENS) and record pain scores using a 100 mm visual analog scale (VAS) at the time of IUD insertion. The same device will be used for both active and placebo treatment.
