Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

The study aims to find if using a Biphasic Cuirass Ventilation is as effective as using a Non invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation in patients admitted with acute hypercapnic respiratory failure.

Participation Criteria

Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL

Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * admission diagnosis of hypercapnic respiratory failure
  2. * pH between 7.20-7.35 in an ABG sample or pH between 7.16-.31 in a venous sample.
  1. * age \<21
  2. * Pregnant
  3. * Inmate/Prisoner
  4. * Contraindication for cuirass ventilator (open chest wound, flail chest, prior thoracic surgery)
  5. * Chest wall defect, neuromuscular disease or diaphragmatic paralysis.
  6. * BMI \>50
