Floreciendo is a sexual and reproductive health workshop for Latina teens (ages 14-18 years) and their female caregivers (e.g., mothers, sisters, grandmothers). This study involves conducting a pilot optimization trial of Floreciendo using the multiphase optimization strategy (MOST) framework. The feasibility of using a 2 x 2 x 2 factorial trial design and the acceptability of the intervention components of Floreciendo will be examined. Effectiveness and implementation outcomes will be explored. This work will be conducted in partnership with community-based organizations in the Chicagoland area.
In this study, the researchers are trying to learn more about the relationship between Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a sleep-related breathing disorder that involves a decrease or complete stop in airflow. The purpose of this study is to find out why some people with obstructive sleep apnea have higher levels of insulin resistance, and the investigators will study the role of hypoxia (low levels of oxygen in the blood at night) in insulin resistance and see if insulin resistance improves during your treatment with CPAP.
The purpose of this study is to see how cancer treatment affects sexual and reproductive function. The patient will also be asked to participate in blood draws to see if and how cancer treatment affects the ovaries and the ability to have children (fertility). These blood draws are optional and the patient can still participate in the questionnaire portion of the study even if they choose not to have their blood drawn.
The goal of this randomized control trial (RCT) is to assess an innovative adolescent pregnancy prevention program among youth that are at the highest risk of adolescent pregnancy, to prevent pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including HIV/AIDS in the greater Miami area in Florida. The primary research question it aims to answer is: (RQ1a): What is the effect of adding 4.5 hours of Mind Matters trauma-coping skills curriculum to the Relationship Smarts Plus curriculum, on rates of unprotected sex among 9th and 10th graders compared to the students receiving only the 14-hour-long Relationship Smarts Plus curriculum? (RQ1b): What is the effect of the 14-hour-long Relationship Smarts Plus curriculum on rates of unprotected sex among 9th and 10th graders compared to the control group receiving only financial literacy? Participants will complete program lessons and complete surveys for data collection. The RCT will assess behavioral health outcomes and other psychological outcomes at four-time points (baseline, post-program, 3 months, and 12 months)
This is an observational longitudinal study to advance the understanding of menstrual cycle and gynecologic health conditions including PCOS, infertility and breast cancer.The study will be hosted within the Research app(available on App Store), which allows a user to find, enroll, and participate in Apple-supported health-related research studies.
The overarching goal is to develop and demonstrate proof-of-concept of ReSPECT (Reproductive and Sexual Health Patient Education and Communication Tool), a multi-modal communication intervention to improve adolescent and young adult (AYA)- clinician sexual and reproductive health (SRH) communication in the outpatient oncology clinic setting.
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe affective disorder impacting millions of women worldwide, thought to be due to altered sensitivity to hormone fluctuations across the menstrual cycle. Neuroactive steroid hormones (NAS) and the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-A receptor (GABAAR) are thought to play a role in PMDD. This research will assess the blood levels of GABAergic NAS, expression of associated enzymes, and expression of GABAAR subunits across the premenstrual (luteal) phase of the menstrual cycle in healthy controls and individuals with PMDD. Within the PMDD group, the investigators will assess how these measures are affected by a low-dose antidepressant medication versus placebo. The results will provide a comprehensive view of the changes in these systems across the menstrual cycle and will add to the investigator's understanding of the mechanisms that underlie PMDD, as well as therapeutic mechanisms of PMDD treatment.
The purpose of this pilot study is to evaluate the feasibility of a multi-component intervention to improve young female cancer survivors' engagement in goal-concordant reproductive health care. The investigators hypothesize that implementation of the intervention will result in increased young cancer survivors' engagement in goal-concordant reproductive health care.
Community members ages 18 - 45 years old from the El Paso, Texas, U.S.-Mexico Border Region will be recruited to compare psychoeducational multimedia interventions focused on the human papillomavirus (HPV). Our hypothesis is that adults who view culturally tailored multimedia stories encouraging HPV vaccination will report higher vaccine uptake rates.
Healthcare providers (HCP) serving the El Paso U.S.-Mexico Border Region will be recruited to compare educational and professional skills interventions focused on the human papillomavirus (HPV). Our hypothesis is that improving provider knowledge and communication strategies about HPV and its vaccine will reduce hesitancy and increase uptake and completion among the populations they serve.
This project builds on the Michigan Contraceptive Access Research and Evaluation Study (M-CARES) to evaluate the long-term effects of mothers' access to free contraceptives and reductions in unintended pregnancies on their children's well-being.
The purpose of this study is to find out how cancer treatments (chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy) affect reproductive and sexual health in people with early onset colorectal cancer. The study researchers will observe and track changes in hormone levels and in sexual and reproductive health in people with early onset colorectal cancer. This information will help researchers know more about how cancer treatments affect reproductive and sexual health, including the ability to have children (fertility).
This study is being done to investigate strategies that may improve patient's knowledge of type 2 diabetes during reproductive age and improve knowledge and engagement in self-care activities.
Background: Most adult women with irregular periods of unknown cause report symptoms dating back to early adolescence. This study aims to learn how girls' periods change in the 2 years after their first period. We are also looking at girls who may have a condition called PCOS. This will help researchers learn what healthy puberty looks like and how they can spot signs of hormone problems early on. Objective: To learn how long it takes girls to develop regular menstrual cycles after their first period. Eligibility: Healthy girls ages 8-14 who either (1) haven't had their first period but show signs of puberty, such as breast development and hair in the genital area; or (2) had their first period in the past 6 months Girls at risk for PCOS age 8-14 who have a mom or sister with PCOS Girls with irregulat menstrual cycles age 11-17.5 To compare with the girls, we are looking at women \>=18-34 years old with PCOS, Healthy women \>= 18-34 years old without PCOS Design: Both parents or guardians must allow their daughter to participate. They must attend all study visits with her. Participants will first be screened by phone. Those who qualify will be screened in person. They will have a physical exam. They will give blood and urine samples. They will have an ultrasound of their abdomen. They will fill out questionnaires. They will sit in a BOD POD for 6 minutes: This is an egg- shaped machine that takes body measurements. They have the option to provide DNA samples. Participants will have sets of visits at home or at the clinic about every 6 months. The number of visits in each set will depend on their menstrual cycle. Then they will have a final visit. Visits will include repeats of the screening tests. There are additional parts that participants may choose to be involved in depending on how involved they want to be. At home, participants will collect their urine daily to measure hormones. They will keep a diary of their periods. Adults: Women with known PCOS will complete the same Screening Visit as the girls and will collect dried urine specimens at home for 8 weeks; The Healthy control women group will complete the same Screening Visit as the girls and collect dried urine specimens at home for 2 menstrual cycles.
The purpose of this study is to help expectant single mothers build a coparenting bond and improve communication with a support person (co-caregiver). Participation will include completing two online surveys (one at 12-30 weeks gestation \& one at 3 months postpartum), providing two at-home bloodspot collections and return via mail. Studies suggest that stress increases inflammation. Investigators aim to explore this by collecting a small amount of blood at the first and last session; attending 9 virtual one-two hour Family Foundations (FF) intervention sessions (at no cost to participants) with a supportive co-caregiver (total time commitment will be 18 hours, max, over a 6 month period).
