EsophaCap for the Detection of Early Esophageal Carcinoma

Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

This study is to identify potential biomarkers for the early detection of Barrett's Esophagus, esophageal carcinoma (both adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma), and gastric cancer via sponge cytology.

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:18 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:Yes
Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * Undergoing esophagogastroduodenoscopy at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1/2016 to 12/2025
  2. * Age greater than 18 years
  3. * Patients must be able to swallow a capsule
  1. * Patients in either arm with extra-esophageal malignancies including head and neck and gastric cancer
  2. * Patients who have undergone esophagectomy
  3. * Patients who have undergone radiation to the chest
  4. * Patients who are younger than 18
  5. * Patients with esophageal stents
  6. * Patients with esophageal strictures disabling passage of the capsule
