Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

This study will explore whether a 21-minute meditation practice called Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya leads to changes in brain health and explore how it affects cognitive and physiological function.

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:20 Years to 65 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:Yes
Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * Individuals between the ages of 20-65 years.
  2. * Subjects will be required to be able to understand study instructions and provide informed consent.
  3. * Currently residing in Massachusetts.
  1. * Non-English Speaking. (Justification: Meditation and cognitive assessment instruments are not validated in a sufficient range of languages, and the research team lacks polylingual capabilities or the financial resources to hire interpreters for the duration of all proposed assessments.)
  2. * Practicing meditation regularly for the past 6 months (3 or more times per week of practice regularly for the past 6 month).
  3. * History of psychiatric illness such as severe anxiety, severe depression, Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
  4. * History of any form of cognitive decline or neurological conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, brain tumors, brain surgery.
  5. * Current use of cognition enhancing drugs
  6. * Current management for chronic pain.
  7. * History (within the last 5 years) of stroke/aneurysm.
  8. * Active history (within the last 5 years) of alcohol or drug abuse (\> 10 drinks per week).
  9. * Current pregnancy or planning to become pregnant in the next 6 months.
  10. * Currently enrolled in another interventional study that could impact the primary outcome, as determined by the PI.
  11. * Educational attainment below high school level or equivalent.
  12. * Significant visual impairment.
