To determine the efficacy of a dual-task tai ji quan training therapy in reducing the incidence of falls in older adults with mild cognitive impairment.

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:65 Years to 95 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:Yes
Standard Ages:OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * being 65 years and older
  2. * having complaint of memory loss
  3. * scoring ≤0.5 on Clinical Dementia Scale
  4. * having had 1 or more falls in the preceding 12 months or scoring ≥12 seconds on the Timed Up and Go test
  1. * scoring \<24 on the Mini-Mental State Examination
  2. * being able to ambulate independently for household distances
  3. * having medical clearance
  4. * having participated in any regular and structured tai ji quan-based exercise programs (≥2 times weekly) in the preceding 6 months
  5. * having a progressive neuromuscular disorder such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis
  6. * being unwilling to be randomized
