The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of opioid cessation on opioid-induced esophageal dysfunction (OIED).

Participation Criteria

Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. Age 18 years or older
  2. Willing and able to provide informed consent
  3. Able to understand and follow study procedures
  4. Stable medical condition
  1. * Inability to provide informed consent.
  2. * Patients with previous gastroesophageal surgery or pneumatic dilation.
  3. * Esophageal botulinum toxin injection within the prior 12 months.
  4. * Esophageal stricture
  5. * Achalasia types I and II
  6. * Allergy to Lidocaine or other local anesthetics
  7. * Subjects on anticoagulation
  8. * Bilateral nasal obstruction
  9. * Pregnancy or breast feeding
