Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

The aim of this research study is to test the feasibility of a physical and mental health intervention (Positive Minds, Strong Joints or PMSJ) for Black adults with knee osteoarthritis (OA).

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:50 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:No
Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * Age≥50
  2. * BMI ≤ 40 kg/m2
  3. * Self-identify as Black (including African American)
  4. * Knee pain ≥4/10 on a 11 numeric scale over the past week
  5. * Scored 5 or more on either the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and/or the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item Scale (GAD-7)
  6. * Can speak and understand English at a sufficient level to understand the study procedures and informed consent
  7. * Available for study duration
  8. * Available to attend in-person intervention sessions at the community location
  9. * Able to attend remote sessions
  10. * Knee, hip or ankle replacement
  11. * Intra-articular corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid knee injection within 3 months
  12. * Knee surgery within past 6 months
  13. * Currently receiving or received within 3-months any PT for knee OA
  14. * Currently receiving or received within 3 months any mental health intervention (excluding pharmacologic treatments)
  15. * Planning to initiate physical therapy for joint or low back pain in the next 3months
  16. * Planning to initiate any mental health treatment (excluding pharmacologic treatments) in the next 1 month.
  17. * Systemic inflammatory arthritis (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis)
  18. * Neurologic conditions (e.g., stroke, Parkinson's disease, etc.)
  19. * Contraindications to starting an exercise program.
  20. * Suspected substance abuse
  21. * Lack capacity to consent
  22. * Pregnancy (self-report)
  23. * Participation in another clinical trial for any joint or muscle pain
  24. * Planning for a major surgery in the next 6 months
  25. * Having high risk mental health symptoms (active suicidality, bipolar disorder, mania, psychosis, schizophrenia)
  26. * Receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer (except non-melanoma skin cancer)
  1. Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  2. Severe psychiatric disorders
  3. Active substance abuse
  4. Unstable medical conditions
  5. Inability to comply with study requirements
