Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * \* Adults ≥ 18 years or older
  2. * Active or accomplished musicians
  3. * Those performing in the community as part of a group or as a soloist
  4. * Those teaching lessons in an individual or group setting
  5. * Those for whom music teaching or performance is a primary source of income
  6. * Those who play music multiple times per week
  7. * Our ideal cohort will consist of an equal number of patients with the following malignancies above the diaphragm:
  8. * Brain
  9. * Head and Neck
  10. * Esophagus or Lung
  11. * Breast
  12. * Our ideal cohort will consist of an equal number of patients who engage in the following musical endeavors:
  13. * Stringed instruments
  14. * Wind instruments (including woodwind and brass instruments)
  15. * Keyboard instruments
  16. * Vocalists
  1. * \* \< 18 years
  2. * Did not regularly attempt to engage in musical endeavors during or after cancer treatment
  3. * Not willing or able to complete the questionnaire or engage in a one-hour interview (i.e. limited English proficiency)
