To better define the presence of Barrett's esophagus (BE) via non-endoscopic testing in an eating disorder cohort with purging (vomiting/rumination) behaviors

Participation Criteria

Researchers look for people who fit a certain description, called eligibility criteria. Some examples of these criteria are a person's general health condition or prior treatments.

Ages Eligible for Study:18 Years to 65 Years
Sexes Eligible for Study:ALL
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:No
Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * Patients diagnosed with an eating disorder diagnosis that includes purging history
  2. * Ages 18-65
  3. * Purging history =\>5 years
  4. * Purging or rumination at a minimum of once daily upon admission.
  5. * Admission to the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders and Severe Malnutrition
  1. * Any eating disorder diagnosis that does not include purging behaviors
  2. * Ages under 18 and over 65
  3. * Patients who otherwise meet the current ACG screening guidelines (chronic GERD and 3 or more risk factors for Barrett's mentioned in the Background)
  4. * Received mandated care at time of enrollment
  5. * Inability to consent to participate in the research
