Study Overview

This clinical trial focuses on testing the efficacy of different digital interventions to promote re-engagement in cancer-related long-term follow-up care for adolescent and young adult (AYA) survivors of childhood cancer.

Description

The purpose of this study is to learn more about tongue strength and endurance by using the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI). The IOPI is a device that measures tongue pressure.

Participation Criteria

Standard Ages:ADULT, OLDER_ADULT
Inclusion CriteriaExclusion Criteria
  1. * Age ≥18 years old
  2. * Scheduled to undergo primary surgery for oral tongue cancer (glossectomy types 1 to 3) using any type of closure or reconstruction
  1. * Previous radiation therapy to the oral cavity or head and neck
  2. * Previous surgery for oral cavity cancer
  3. * Recurrent oral cavity cancer
  4. * Surgical requirement of extension to involve bone (mandible resection)
  5. * Subtotal or total glossectomy
  6. * Feeding tube dependance prior to surgery
