The goal of this study is to measure the effects of using Tradipitant after GLP-1R agonist use on nausea and vomiting in healthy overweight, class I, or class II obese volunteers. The study is placebo-controlled with two treatment arms.
The purpose of this research study is to determine if the Enterra® Therapy System can decrease nausea and vomiting symptoms and improve the quality of life for patients with chronic nausea, with or without vomiting, that have normal gastric emptying.
The study team proposes a randomized, double-blind, RCT to address the following goal: to determine the relative efficacy and adverse event profile of fosaprepitant compared to the standard of care antiemetic ondansetron. Fosaprepitant and its active metabolite aprepitant are a relatively new class of antiemetic that exclusively acts in the central nervous system by blocking neurokinin (NK-1) which is a key signaling molecule in the centrally mediated aspects of the vomiting reflex. Currently, fosaprepitant and aprepitant both have only two United Stated Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) approved indications for nausea and vomiting: chemotherapy-induced and postoperative. Neurokinin inhibitors are highly effective and generally well-tolerated. Therefore, this class of medication may be a more appropriate medication for the millions of patients with nausea and vomiting that seek care in EDs. Intravenous fosaprepitant is converted to the active metabolite aprepitant on the order of minutes and is significantly cheaper to procure at this time. The outcome for the efficacy analysis will be no need for additional medication to treat nausea and vomiting within 2 hours of investigational medication administration. The primary outcome for the tolerability analysis will be the development of any new symptom within 2 hours of medication administration.
The primary objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of Bonjesta for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP) in pregnant adolescents aged 12 to 17 years with placebo. The secondary objective of this study is to compare the safety of Bonjesta in pregnant adolescents aged 12 to 17 years with placebo.
The goal of this prospective, unblinded, pragmatic and repeated crossover trial is to learn if clinical decision support alerts will impact postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) prophylaxis and reduce PONV rates in adult and pediatric patients who have planned surgery with general anesthesia. The main aim is to improve PONV, establishing a scalable Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Tool for personalized PONV prevention. The primary hypothesis is that, compared with standard care, the Anesthesia Workflow-Driven Clinical Decision Support Tool for Personalized PONV Prevention will be associated with a significant improvement in the rate of appropriate administration of PONV prophylaxis and a significant decrease in the incidence of PONV. This study will evaluate a new clinical decision support (CDS) tool designed to improve how and when PONV prevention strategies are used. Unlike traditional tools that provide generic, one-time alerts, this new system is integrated into the electronic health record (EHR) and delivers timely, targeted reminders to anesthesia providers at key moments during a patient's surgical care-such as before surgery begins, after anesthesia is given, and before the patient wakes up. These alerts are based on each patient's individual risk for PONV and are intended to support, not replace, clinical judgment. The study will use a crossover design over 12 months, alternating between periods when the tool is active and when it is not. The goal is to determine whether this time-sensitive, workflow-integrated tool can lead to better adherence to best practices and improved patient outcomes.
Patients who receive a chemotherapy called melphalan are at high risk of having nausea and vomiting. A medication called olanzapine has been shown to decrease nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy. A previous research study found the 10 mg dose of olanzapine (combined with 3 standard medications used routinely to prevent nausea/vomiting) to be effective for patients who received melphalan chemotherapy, but several other studies have shown many patients have a side effect of sleepiness (e.g., sedation) with that dose of the medication. Our study will compare two lower doses of olanzapine (5 mg and 2.5 mg) in combination with the 3 standard medications used to prevent nausea/vomiting in the patients who receive melphalan chemotherapy to determine which dose is effective in preventing nausea and vomiting with the lowest amount of sleepiness side effect.
To assess the effectiveness of Amisulpride to treat Post Operative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) and to assess the effectiveness of Amisulpride to prevent PONV following bariatric surgery.
The goal of this clinical trial is to see if pantoprazole (a proton pump inhibitor used for acid reflux/heart burn) can reduce nausea and vomiting after gynecologic surgery in women between the ages of 18 and 79. Researchers will compare a placebo to the active medication. Participants will be asked to take three pills around their surgery, two taken before and one taken the night after.
From the research and current studies, post-operative nausea and vomiting is a common complaint after bariatric surgery. Nausea relief inhalers could improve post-operative nausea and vomiting without the need for further medications, subsequently reducing the chance of side effects. This study could help improve patient satisfaction and increase the ability of the patient to ambulate after surgery with the use of a nausea relief inhaler.
The purpose is to find out if intraoperative acupuncture performed by needling PC 6 and LI4 point bilaterally, and Yin Tang point will help reduce the incidence postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy when added to a prophylactic regimen consisting of ondansetron and dexamethasone. The hypothesis is that the addition of this acupuncture treatment to ondansetron and dexamethasone given for prophylaxis will help reduce the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy when compared to patients receiving ondansetron and dexamethasone without acupuncture.
